It is impossible for Sony to lose Gran Turismo because Sony own Polyphony Digital and the Gran Turismo IP. Polyphony, in other words, is simply one of Sony's many first party studios. This sounds like a misquote, or a misunderstanding. All three next generation consoles are using a variation of the IBM Power 6 CPU, but only the PS3 is using a Cell processor, which was co-developed by Sony, Toshiba, and IBM (the STI group).
