I mean if the game doesn't check if it is pirated, then how do they know how much revenue they've lost to piracy?

Or are they just assuming every downloaded/torrented copy is equal to and totally constitutes an otherwise valid physical sale?

That's not to say PSP piracy isn't a big problem (GT only shifted 350k units? wth?) but I'd say that crck's points and Remote Play have more to do with poor sales on the handheld.

If you live close enough to a data server, and if you've got a 5+mb connection you're pretty much going to be, then all the latency is going to be in 'the last mile', which they've said is what they plan for.

Those data centers still require all the hardware, so the GFX makers will still be selling product, now they aren't just restricted to Console or PC gamers, pretty much anyone with a TV could be playing Crysis, so potentially there's a larger audience using your products. Saying that most of the time high-def will run around 2mbps, meaning a comcast cap of 250GB a month gives you about 280 hrs of gaming per month.

Obviously that excludes any additional net surfing you might do.
