I admire hiphopgamer's courage in putting himself out there like this. It takes a lot to step in front of a camera and lay one's opinion down on the line for dissection by every Joe Schmo on the interwebs.
Still, doing so also opens you up to the opinions of others. So here are few pointers for you. I'll be honest, I stopped watching it early on. While the presentation wasn't necessarily to my liking, I understand that I am most likely not your target audience, so I wouldn't expe...
Yeah, the author of that article has some really good pieces about the the two formats. His examination of the Paramount/HD-DVD deal is quite informative.
I didn't know I couldn't submit my own articles. Forgive me if I overstepped my bounds in doing so. As for the largely negative response I'm seeing in the comments, like all of you here, I've just expressed my opinion. Like all opinions, mine is flawed. In my experience opinion is what most of these articles come down to, be it one about the 360 versus the PS3, or the PSP versus the DS. There's no need to take personal offense to it, folks.
Hey, all! Thanks for the approvals thus far, and the comments. I agree that I should have addressed the excusivity issue on both sides of this war by mentioning the Dreamworks/Paramount deal in my article. I suppose the reason I didn't is because, for better or worse, I felt it levelled the playing field more than anything, thus making the eventuality of studio neutrality a more distinct possibility. At any rate, I apologize for omitting that subject because it really did deserve mentionining...
Well, you could post video of some n00b faking a temper tantrum and pretending to throw his 360 out a window. That's just one way. Of course, if this was some guy doing that to his PS3 after beating a $60 copy of Heavenly Sword in half a day and wanting to slit his wrists instead of trying to master Lair's controls, you'd question the "news" post's relevance too. Then again, at least that guy would have a legitimate reason to flip out.
Actually, the contributor's test does imply that this crap doesn't qualify as news. Remember, it's News 4 Gamers, not Noobs 4 Gamers; so post news, not noobs.
Having taken the contributor's test for N4G, I can't understand how in the hell crap like this gets approved as "news".
Hopefully this proves to be enough to help usher in a world of dual formats.
The article's title had me expecting a sort of declarative statement on BluRay pulling ahead in the format wars. Instead, the article just reiterated everything I already know:
1) HD DVD continues to prove itself a superior format:
"The data already factors in the price of each player, video quality, number of titles, et cetera, and gives HD DVD the edge; on top of that, I think that the knowledge of the effects of the gift certificate is now known among ...
...because playing as a scantily-clad, well-endowed female avatar will radically redefine how the game is played.
Personally, I think this is just an additional model for the multiplayer component.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT!!!!
I wonder how much Sony pays SimmoUK to troll forums and message boards? Not enough to buy his soul back, I'm sure.
At any rate, the game looks good, but I don't see it as any kind of definitive proof of the PS3's graphical superiority. Graphics aside, gameplay has to come first and I just don't see this as being a game that will maintain a lot of interest.
I cannot stand Rusty's voice. It just sounds forced to me. Like, "Hey, I'm podcasting so I better sound like a poor man's Casey Casum." Aside from that, I thought the show was informative.
All these people talking about the way these poles bend and all of that, but no one mentions the incredible, indestructible chair in that second video. I mean, at least in Gears when I shoot furniture it actually reacts realistically (i.e. breaks apart).
As for the first video, I've never shot a lamp post or a traffic sign, so I can't really gauge if that's realistic. However, logic suggests that while a shotgun might not necessarily punch a hole in it, it's not gonna turn it i...
I've noticed a trend in framerate issues in most of the reviews I've been reading. Here's hoping the kinks get worked out eventually.
Really, if I had given it a score, you'd probably just tell me how ridiculous the score was and we'd be right where we are. In all honesty, I didn't have any complaints about the game, and trust me, I've spent a great deal of time with it. I'm not going to bash your opinion, nor defend mine. Again, thanks for the feedback.
I don't give scores in my private reviews. I think they're arbitrary. Nonetheless, I appreciate the feedback. Sorry you were disappointed with SCDA. As a long-standing fan, I've loved every minute of it.
That was absolutely ridiculous. I'm not contending her argument that the 360 isn't for her, but I am definitely taking issue with the larger argument in which she suggests that the 360 is a "boy's console". Sure, it's marketed primarily to the largest demographic which is men, but I've been seeing more and more women on GRAW lately.
It's a time-machine designed to help them go back and correct every horrible mistake they've made with the PS3.
I kid, I kid.
