I completely disagree. The only way to be objective is to list a bunch of facts about a game. A simple statement such as "the graphics are good" is completely subjective. You could say "there is 2x msaa" but how does that help me? That information is useless to me. Someone's opinion tells me a lot more about a game than simple facts. If I want facts about a game I can go on wikipedia. Why would I need 50 different people telling me the same set of f...
@Hicken You don't need to justify an opinion. If I say that I don't like the Transformers films, I don't need to say why. It's just a fact. In the case of reviews, they do "justify" their opinions though. You might not like or agree with them. If they don't tell you why they do or don't like something, then it's not a very good review or IMO a review at all.
Hey, you got it right. Reviews are subjective. They are opinions. You don't have to agree with them and they don't have to agree with you.
How can an opinion be unjust?
They're not " trying to tell [you] what to think and buy." They're called reviewers. You even called the person a reviewer. Their job title is petty self-explanatory. In case you need me to spell it out for you, their job is to give a review of certain products. Dictionary.com defines a review as: "a critical article or report, as in a periodical, on a book, play, recital, or the like; critique; evaluation."
Now, this is where it gets crazy, and yo...
Up until this point, I've been pretty neutral on sub 1080p resolutions in Xbox One games. It's obvious that the system is less powerful than the PS4, but Ryse still looked gorgeous, and Dead Rising 3 was fairly impressive with the sheer amound of on screen zombies. That being said, this is a Source Engine game built from the ground up for Xbox One. They aren't aiming for launch. It seems rather strange that they can't hit 1080p.
If you have friends this game can be immense fun. Overall, I think it's only an average game though. The shooting mechanics leave a lot to be desired and the console versions are stright up ugly and have performance issues. The lack of a lean makes the stealth approach pretty inconsistent.
I don't understand how people make claims about racing game graphics based on photo mode. GT6's photo mode can make it look better than Forza 5.
Eh, based on IGN's scale I would probably give it a seven. The potential is there, but right now voice commands are too inconsistent and gestures don't work at all. A few crashes and design quirks can lead to minor frustrations. Having to memorize voice commands in order to control the system and Kinect's inability to function properly with too many people in the room lessens the experience. When the features do work, it all comes together very nicely, and the console definitely...
Not particularly attractive but not bad looking either. Seems like a case of function over form.
Maybe Activision still owns the rights to the franchise, but Sony has the rights to a new game or series in the franchise.
Why do people give hit piece articles like this attention? Worse yet, why do they believe them? There is no actual proof that these consoles are actually smoking. A friend and I could go on xbox.com and post that the Xbox One killed our families. Two forum posts by semi-anonymous users without any proof doesn't make it true.
Mine does this to. Luckily a replacement will be here Monday. Sucks that I had to play AC4 on my PS4 today instead of Forza 5 though :P
You might want to go back to the 5th grade because that has nothing to do with the scientific method.
I normally don't get the hate for sites like IGN or people l Geoff Keighley, but I totally get the hate for Polygon. I think that there is a bias there that greatly affects their output. I don't believe that it's intentional though. I think that it is a case of a bunch of hard headed and like minded people being together, so they don't take criticism well and constantly reaffirm their own biases.
This article is so ridiculous. It's like this guy doesn't even understand that that optimization and the OS overhead matter. He thinks that 1GB of GDDR5 and 8 GB of DDR3 is somehow comparable to a unified pool of 8GB of GDDR5 memory.
Even if this machine could theoretically match the performance of a PS4, it would still lack optimization. The PS4's OS and games are specifically designed and optimized for one set of hardware. Developers can squeeze every bit of pow...
I don't believe in these conspiracies of paid off reviewers, but Polygon is really making me reconsider that stance.
I don't really think that they are paid off, but there seems to be certain biases that all of their editors hold that greatly affect their review scores. Sometimes I think that all of their reviewers are different personas of Arthur Geis.
Not good news, but not a deal breaker either. The time is pretty reasonable, and it won't matter when suspending is patched in anyway.
Better than the last game? Yeah. Really good? Definitely not.
I don't get why people get angry at stuff like this. Early adopters always pay more and get less, but we also get to use the the products sooner. I think that the $60 I had to pay was well worth getting to play Forza 5 for the least few months.
