The article mentions Destiny 2, which I agree with. Unfortunately, I think they can only get that redemption if they release Forsaken for free (which will never happen) or if they make free all existing DLC in anticipation for it. The problem with Destiny 2 and its relationship with the community is that they've nickeled and dimed their base, which isn't going to be solved with another $40 charge to get another piece of the experience they were promised.
I'd rather more games didn't waste resources piggybacking on flash-in-the-pan game type trends. Battle Royale has its place, but not as a tacked-on mode to dilute an established franchise with established expectations like Halo. It's not dumb for them to make a statement and say they're not interested in taking their franchise there, but the author of this article might be dumb for not understanding that you can't be fifteenth to the party and expect the same success as th...
It's all part of the process. Sony really had to fight their way back to the top when PS3 launched, and Microsoft wasn't prepared for the fight they got when they rolled out Xbox One. Fortunately, this roller coaster is good for consumers -- Sony's doubling-down on first-party titles saved the PS3 and continues to make the PS4 the best console on the market. Xbox One's disappointments have led towards probably the best subscription model around, and made them are more open to ...
Which is kind of why they need to pick up the pace and get it out there.
I think what you're saying is definitely true of Destiny 1. I put hundreds of hours into that game. It's very addictive, and I was even aware of it at the time. I could recognize that it wasn't a "great" game, but I also knew I wanted to run one more Strike or hit that close-by Public Event.
Destiny 2 killed that for me. Once the honeymoon of the campaign ends (it's not even a great campaign, but it was refreshing to see variety in Destiny), there&...
Everybody who made Halo is now at 343 Industries (like, literally almost the entire senior staff). People think of Bungie as the home of Halo, but the tenants moved out years ago.
Oh, I wasn't aware of this. That would certainly justify having so much of it.
Yeah, I don't mind it as a challenge rotation, but not as a regular aspect of the Nightfall.
I don't want to agree, but we got booted twice on the last objective of a pretty long mission last night, and it was hard not to feel pretty demoralized by it.
I honestly don't get this at all. I like having individual shaders, and they give them to you often enough that I never felt like I was hurting myself by using one up.
Play the game, bud.
VR is exciting technology, but developers are failing to give anybody a reason to invest in it. This game in particular just feels like a cash grab. I hope VR isn't smothered in its crib because of opportunistic garbage like this.
You're right, it is difficult to accurately judge based on a beta. That's why I think they shot themselves in the foot, though. This beta leaves people with the wrong impression about the game. I don't believe this is indicative of the final product, which is probably doing a major disservice to the improvements they have made.
I keep hearing this "old build" argument, but I don't like it. I don't doubt that it's true, but nonetheless, this is the first piece of content millions of players will experience of Destiny 2. That would be like a writer putting out excerpts of their new book from their first draft when they're going to print.
On its own, I don't think there's inherent problems with the "early build" approach, but when you're trying to win back player...
I just wish Bungie would have bothered to drop in a taste of the exploration / patrol improvements into the beta. A lot of people are looking to the beta to see if Destiny 2 is worth their time and money, and they only got to see essentially more of the same.
I'm sure it will be great on PC. It's just worrisome that they aren't showing off any improvements they have been working on.
The fact that this post is at almost 900 degrees, garnered over 3,000 views on YouTube, and hundreds of comments across several sites proves that it doesn't matter how undeniably wrong the content is, because it got the traffic he wanted. It's disappointing, and yet I've contributed to this problem by adding this comment...
Yeah, it's a pretty egregious stretch. The creator of this video could have probably made a video about the abundance of open world / large environment third-person action games, because that seems to be his problem, and would have had a lot of stuff to work from. But the fact that he'd imply Horizon and The Last of Us are too similar is like saying Overwatch and Call of Duty are basically the same game. Doesn't hold water.
Both consoles are fine. I prefer Sony, particularly because of the first-party exclusives, and the fact that a lot of Japanese games don't come to Xbox platforms. But they're both viable. Console wars are stupid.
I don't really get this. I think people have rose-tinted glasses with Fable. None of the original titles were particularly great games in the first place. This isn't like they're returning to a legendary franchise.
