memory is short because its enough for high res textures it doesent cut it if you turn up the filters like anti aliasing tesselation and what ever nvidias txaa will be wich somehow wont be combatible with ati hardware at the begining ;-p so memory is a big factor and it has currently a low price gpu memory and i/o is the biggest factor of console making because you have to think forthe future and not wait for it (loading)
