The guy gets a little passionate but this sums up most of what I have been thinking about day one dlc, online passes and used games recently.
Fact is we didnt have any of that crap before and gaming has gone from strength to strength, so we dont need it now. As the guy says, its all about the large companies wanting to dominate. They don't really give a rats ass about the games.
Really liking the looks of this. Glad they put some extra time in, I think it really paid off.
Its been milked so excessively that the only place for it to go now is downhill.
Do I hate CoD? No I dont.
Do I want to play it anymore? Most certainly not. I'm ready for new shooter experiences.
Alien 3 just took too many step away from what I loved about the first two movies. It tried to be its own thing too much. Not a bad movie, but not classics like the originals. This new Aliens game is what Alien 3 should have been.
Sometimes developers become lost within their creative vision. The hardcore fans of long running franchises tend to retain a pretty accurate picture of why something was cool in the first place. Its foolish not to take that feedback on board. In fact most of the best games were created from developers that listened intently to their fans.
Publishers / developers that do this do don't realise the long term damage they could be doing to the games industry. Essentially they are encouraging two class system of gaming.
A basic (bare bones) edition that has just enough content so that poorer gamers who cant afford the premium content don't have anything to complain about and a 2nd higher quality version that the rich don't mind paying for, but is the game that it was meant to be.
If allow this ...
Cant say i'm surprised, I always suspected there were some shady goings on. The fans can always tell when something isn't quite right. BioWare just haven't felt like the company they used to be for a while now.
I'm trying my best to stay out of it all, but its like every other article is about ME3 just lately. I guess there isnt anything else interesting to talk about this month.
Anyway in my opinion its hard to be sympathetic toward EA and BioWare.
I think if EA would quit with the day 1 DLC and other money grubbing promotions then I don't think this fan backlash would ever have happened. I think much of this hate is carried over from ME2's release as w...
That still doesn't sound any better. That development time could still have been used in ME3 to put more content in the game. Also I cant believe they could plan and organise this as some last minute quick turn around content. It takes months and months to test even the smallest DLC.
The point is that it was ready before the game shipped, so it should have come on the disk, a second disk or as a free download if they couldn't fit it on there.
Again it...
I have already stated on several sites that i'm not buying from any publisher who thinks its cool to treat gamers this way. Its really not fair on the poorer gamers to create such a two class system in which those willing to pay higher prices get a better game.
I'm sure most people will just take the plunge because they want to play the game so badly, but i'm sticking to my guns for the third year running now. Any game that ships with day 1 DLC developed in conjun...
They did the same thing with ME2, to a lessor extent.
And while the stated cost here may be wildly exaggerated, I dont think anybody can argue that EA are not milking the hell out of this franchise, by ripping content out of the game (pre-release) to be sold on the side as exclusive promotional DLC on day one.
If they want to create DLC after they have shipped the game, then thats cool, i'm all for that. But taking content or even development time away fr...
It wasn't written by Jim Sterling.
I don't see how Kinect has much to do with this story.
Really looking forward to this. I'm a oldschool gamer, played every major platform over the years starting with Atari 2600, right through to PC and now xbox 360. There aren't many game genre's I haven't dabbled in over the years, but this past couple of console generations, many older genres like turn based strategy games, space sims, squad based tactical shooters etc, have gone MIA.
So as a gamer, its great to hear that at least one of those genres is getting...

He was co-writer on ME2. But compared to all his earlier work, ME2 was pretty bad. I heard he left halfway through due to writing conflicts. Just rumour though.
I wasn't much of a fan of ME2 myself. Just played the ME3 demo and seems even more distanced from the original, which is a huge shame, because the universe had such potential. Feels like its been s...
It got delayed until fall 2012.
I hope its not like AvP2. That game was mediocre, but became popular because of its modding community. The original AvP was a lot better.
So have two qualities of service.
No reason to block something you can get everywhere else.
I agree with the article. Its time for online MP to be available to everyone on xbox. There is more than enough reason to want a premium membership too.
Online for single player is the big kick in the face. Its just a universally bad idea all around, and why I wont be picking it up.
