I have also got the day off work already, well enough in advance to not have to justify the reason to my boss lol.
Sadly, I'm one of those physical copy guys, as are a few of my friends, so we'll be trekking down to the local GS to stand in line and mingle with the other people for a bit before getting the game. Seems silly to a lot of people, but I want that Diablo box on my shelf, plus it's a little social interaction before walling myself off from the world for...
I was thinking the same thing, it just looks like the ad I've been seeing around the 'net became the boxart? Wonder if it's official or just a new placeholder image...
It will be interesting to see how Sony handles the PS4 launch. The PS3 launch focused almost entirely on the Blu-Ray player being the biggest value in the market, and it really brought in a lot of the early sales for the system. A lot of people who bought early PS3's didn't even particularly care that it played games. That tactic however won't work twice, as no one will see a need to buy a PS4 just for Blu-Ray...
It feels to me like Microsoft had a pretty heavy hand in making this game happen, I mean they even made a few limited edition Minecraft consoles. I think Microsoft saw how popular it was on PC, and thought "hey, we want a piece of that" - thus it was made so. Remember originally it was supposed to have Kinect integration as well, and be a big push for Xbox Live.
No PS3 could be less development involved, and more that Sony just didn't latch onto it like MS did. ...
@StayStatic: I PM'd you the link, don't want people to think I'm spamming my own article here. :)
Funny, a couple days ago I wrote an article that mentioned Valve buying OnLive, and people on here called me mad...
My how things change on the internet. :P
But yes... Valve. And why are they not even a mention on this article? Valve have the money, the will, and they already have Steam to back it up with. No brainer easy way in for them IMO.
Not sure what exactly makes this article "exclusive" or what's "revealed". Seems like just an opinion and more conjecture to me. A good theory perhaps, but description makes it sound like "THIS is what's GOING to happen" when real article is not facts...
Article claims release after September 2013 - with official announcement in January. :)
How can you have a list like this and not include Dark Souls?
I had almost forgotten about Epic's upcoming zombie-defense game thing, Fortnight. Hopefully we'll see more on that, and get a release date as well. It looked cool.
$349.99 is the new MSRP for this bundle - it was all over the main "Spotlight" section of the 360 Dashboard not too long (couple weeks?) ago...
Nothing special about Wal-Mart here.
"I don't see how the mic in the KINECT varies any differently! "
The Kinect sensor has a full voice recognition suite built into it. It's not just a mic - do some research and you'll see the Kinect actually processes information, it's much more then just a camera/mic - it's a full system.
The Kinect sensor itself actually handles the voice recognition, and translation into an SDK for easy plug'n'play programming, it's not just a mic.
That's why Mass Effect 3 is Kinect-enabled voice commands, but nothing for PS3/PC - voice recognition is not programmed into the game, the game is just programmed to talk to the Kinect. :)
Personally I completely agree with the difficulty setting severely changing a game experience. I also completely disagree that reviewers should have to play it on the hardest setting. A lot of games make the hardest setting either waaaaay to hard (Gears of War 3 "Insane" mode is just not fun) or a completely different type of game (Rage's "Nightmare" mode for example). So it's hard to find a balance.
However, they certainly should not ever play on ...
The more you hate yourself the more you'll love Dark Souls.
You lose all of your Souls when you quit the game though, and you start at the bonfire. I agree the lack of a "Pause" is very frustrating - my only recourse is to find a secluded corner and hope no one comes hunting me while I'm not looking.
I understand the game is uncompromisingly hard and a Pause feature would go against that, but if there is no enemy near me and I'm secluded, let me Pause so I can answer the door, or let the dog out, etc. Real world stuf...
I hope there's no more "Souls" games because I can't afford to keep putting controllers through the wall. So bloody difficult and frustrating. O_O
This "article" is a joke. You use 3 tweets to back up your claim, yet no real facts or any useful info at all. It's not even an opinion piece, as it's titled like an informative article, but upon reading this drivvle I find nothing informative. Poor form, bad writer, I'll be sure to avoid this website in the future.
You guys do realize I posted this is an "Image" - right? Where does it say "Article" or "News" hm? I'm sorry there isn't much more more than an image, but I thought the was point of posting as "Image"...
Oh yes, I expect quite a few server crashes, pretty much all through Day 1 honestly. It will be aggravating, lots of people will rage, N4G will likely be filled with "This is why we didn't want always-on" rage articles... But alas, it will all subside and die down rather quickly, then we'll all do it again in a week when the RMAH goes live. =D
