I have never experienced VR, though this approach seems like an ingenious one. Part of the new tech means that people will need to form new ways of playing experiencing games. Just think about how long games went without 1st person shooting or 3rd person over the shoulder; hope VR takes devs out of any rutts in imagination
I think this participation element will really good the game fresh and with less luls in entertainment
Definitely love this idea of exploration and fighting through a diverse alien world
GREAT ARTICLE AND THOUGHTS. It did make me think about how strange it is that I accepted Winston the gorilla so readily, but I digress. Is this why Metroid Prime was so legit? Also challenges the idea that male representation is pretty diverse (attractive 76, huge roadhog, Winston) yet look at Soul Caliber and the females all look the same. While I'm at it, I would like games to also stop focusing so much on the attractiveness of its female characters. Check out Zaria, who I initially rai...
This game seems like it has spunk, I can get on with that
Like Shadow of Mordor had a great twist in the end, I would love to see Shadow of War get a twist where the power scheme does fit into a Tolkein worldview; that might be the link between great game and adaptation, even if the timelines are off. Great article idea btw
I predict a cyclical effect. If the movie kicks ass then the game will get more attention and the world will get built. If the movie sucks then it will affirm the critics who didn't like the game and the world will get crushed
Best fighter I've played, which is how I would categorize it even though it's like 3rd person action. I guess the beauty is that it's sometimes so new aand well done that it's somewhat difficult to categorize
What they focused on was excellent; the problem is they may not have done enough with it. Def makes for a solid and consistent experience, but one we might get bored of in the next few months
Could have been a better, different style as Destiny xD
Any villain who goes meta gets a metal in my book
This game looks like it can really win for people like me; who like the idea and style of those old arcade games but don't think I can throw on nostalgia goggles or play some of the Java esque mobileish games out now.
I almost feel like the simplicity of some of those VR games is refreshing enough to warrant praise for artistic minimalism. Probably doesn't stack up to what the industry (and ourselves) would call awesome (Overwatch), but if people appreciated that style more than they could compete
One of Nintendo's strengths in their competition against Sony and Microsoft is their game library. Many people still have fond memories of Nintendo but had to switch to PS or Xbox; so Switch should def work hard on the virtual console
Villains who use to be good guys are the best kinds of villains.
Like Skaymore, I've never played a souls game. Do we have to play them in order to pick up on the lore better or naw? Anyway, I like how it's becoming it's own genre and giving a new tier to video games in general- much different then playing a game on the highest difficulty when the difficulty has been build in.
This idea here is what game designers should be looking towards. I went through a time of fatigue where all nostalgia shed away and I realized I was just playing better versions of games I have already played, just with different stories. I had to get over it, but what if games evolved faster? What if they had messages, like movies usually have good messages now.
Matchmaking doesn't usually bode well for large-scale cooperation, but if they do it right this game will be kick ass
It sounds like Gamestop is led by people who don't buy games. They just don't know what it's like to walk in there to buy a game or system that they want. It sucks because if you love gaming and need a job, then you want to work at GS, but the people managing you just don't know what's up.
Looks like a F-Zero game in a good way. Makes me wish they had just made a need F-Zero game though! classic IP left in the dust by Nintendo but at least the older ones still hold up and we can get this to satiate our thirst for space racing
