I agreed with you. However I still think that Sony's statement is basically correct albeit a little unclear. Hopefully we can satisfy both sides of the argument and move on.

OpenGL came out in 1992. 3 years before DirectX. The first OS to employ the use of DirectX was windows 95. Initially developers preferred DOS for game development because of the protected memory of windows 95 which greatly restricted access to most of the hardware. Sorta ironic eh? Well that's about enough showing my age for one day.
I doubt we will see skype on ps4 since it's owned by Microsoft now. Unless Sony strikes a deal with them. Like, we let you use blu-ray if you let us use skype?

Gaikai has a Guiness world record for being the most widespread cloud gaming service. Which has been providing their service successfully to 88 countries since 2008. Not discrediting the money behind Microsoft but that has to count for something.
While it is a little inconvenient if you don't have the storage space to install the game, I would hardly say it's an outrage. I think it's more of an outrage when people whine about having to wait during a 10 - 15 minute install process. Just upgrade people! You won't regret it.

I can understand perfectly why so many people are complaining. And whilst my own playstation(US) does not have this icon yet I will be no less pissed myself if it ever does. Let me explain. What would please me as a person who has supported Sony products for 20 years is not to be greeted with an asinine health warning every time i turn on my ps3. Okay lets get this straight right now. All Sony has to do is reduce the amount of memmory being used by the OS and they can implement xgc in an update as part of the Operating system. And look at vita. Right there they had a chance for proper development of xgc from the ground up and it is still implemented in game not in os. What people seem to be forgetting is that the phone market is huge. And even then not every smartphone owner rushes out and buys the latest and greatest phone just for a slightly better gaming experience. All other issues aside, how can this model possibly be profitable for Microsoft? Considering their user base is so much smaller. Wouldn't releasing a new console every couple years just remove or greatly reduce the generational leap that that gives us the incentive to eventually upgrade?...
