Have you ever seen how SMALL the actual light is? It is VERY tiny,the only reason it looks big and bright is because the light is fed up through a piece of plastic and spread out over the light window on the controller. If you were to have the controller run NOTHING but the light it would stay on for weeks from a fully charged DS4.

I do not hold my controller so that is pointed directly at the TV,..usually at such and angle that the light is not even seen..even if I do point it at the screen I can BARELY see it.There are far more annoying thing that reflect on the TV like Lights,windows etc.....
