This is exactly what i was thinking. I really think given the economic times we live in now, people are extremely sensitive to pricing (Rightfully so).
But to your point, the people complaining are doing so just to argue and complain. If you didn't buy the game over a 9 year period, not sure what to tell you!
I am getting caught up on my gaming news, but I own both the original version and the new version. Seems like I can still play the OG version that I purchased.
Is all the fuss about no longer being able to purchase the digital version of the OG game?
Wouldn't the people who wanted this game already own it by now? So not being able to purchase the OG version would only impact new players. What exactly would the new players be upset about?
People just want to complain about something. The Pro is 100% optional, and is there for only those who want and need the absolute best.
The main PS5 is the primary system!!!! 85% of the player base will have a base PS5, so it makes no sense for people to be losing their minds over this.
But at the same time, when you train any consumer base for generations to pay for an item that is subsidized, and then in part because of economic realities start sel...
I think folks just need to chill out with the overreacting. Seems like that's all this industry does is scream the sky is falling.
I will buy the system because I can, and I like having the latest tech. No amount of videos claiming one thing or another will change that.
The shaming of people who want the tech is pathetic and the shaming of people who choose to not spend their money is pathetic.
If your OG PS5 fits your fancy, grea...
Yes, the we should just get it for free person. If your not getting the console don't worry about the stand.
And come on trade something in or sell something and get your disc drive now. There are EASY ways to ensure this console, if you want it doesn't break the bank.
Hahahaha yeah it does amaze me the number of people in the comments that are corporate accountants, CEO's and logistics managers. If a $30 stand is going to make or break you gaming will be a cost prohibitive hobby. All this conversation is pointless anyway. If you have an existing PS5 TRADE it in or sell it. If you would have been OK with the system at a price point of $500 or less you can still purchase it at that price with a trade in!!!!!
More and more it just becomes clear there is a stark difference of opinion between the "hardcore" and "casual" gamers. The friends I know who are into PlayStation but not your typical all in player don't care at all if the offering of exclusive games come from 1st or 3rd party. Whats important is that platform holders can fill their gaps from their internal teams with compelling, high quality games.
As an owner of all 3 platforms I am sooooooo gl...
I think I am actually in line with you here. It seemed there was a push to get Sony into multiplayer live service games. Round out their portfolio with what they are clearly missing. There will be misses and home runs. Who would have ever thought that the people who went hands on with Foamstars would actually enjoy their time?!?!?!
Gamers like me who enjoy the narrative based third person AAA game have a decision to make. Those games will cost a ton to make. Are we OK ...
Not really. Believe it or not there are plenty of us out here that can pay the additional cost.
Not everyone is bargain shopping out here.
If you don't want to buy the official plates from PlayStation no biggie but if someone has the extra money to buy them from PlayStation good for them.
Great point but clearly the stance has changed. At this point we know companies have to course correct at times. The emphasis that Xbox puts on older games will never be adopted by Playstation in my opinion. I would love to see them embrace their older exclusive gaming catalog, 3rd party, I am not as interested in. But it's obvious they do see that there needs to be something so people will stop acting like the sky is falling.
It is not even worth the time to argue with "fanboys" for either console. Fanboys want to believe anything that justifies their bias. I think most reasonable people could safely assume that PS wasn't going to be the single console without free upgrades. Fanboys wanted to desperately believe that. In time if fanboys would just relax answers would be provided to all the questions still remaining instead of running off with half baked nonsense.
@knightofelemia Gaming is not a right its a hobby. No one is entitled to play games. In your example if the difference between someone going broke and homeless is $10 then maybe those people should rethink their purchases.
@blastoise Naw just being realistic. What other forms of entertainment media have a price point that has remained stagnant as long as video games have? There needs to be a price increase as well as exploring many different price points.
Absolutely agree. What is it with this irrational belief that games need to remain the same price no matter what????
Microtransactions are not going anywhere. Gamers will need to mature their point of view and wrap their heads around higher prices for games and OPTIONAL transactions not going anywhere.
If people are complaining about $70 games then they would certainly complain if the industry proportionally raised game prices compared to development costs.
I am not saying all games need to be $70 but this attitude of basically ignoring the economics of making vide...
@meka2611. I appreciate you responding and keeping things civil. Seems like If you post on N4G people just come at you. I can understand a game not meeting a players expectation, but I am completely lost when people look at what's been done and call the work lazy or flippantly call it a cash grab.
It is very interesting to see all the comments about waiting until the next generation of platforms come out to enjoy the handful of what appear to be amazing gaming experiences.
If people really feel that way then Microsoft has employed the right strategy by not really having a ton of big budget AAA games at the end of a consoles lifecycle. Mind as well scratch games for the end of a generation and use them as launch titles.
I absolutely love that f...
Man sometimes the gaming community seems like they just want to complain about anything and everything that isn't just now they've always had it. Cash grabs come on now. Of course they want to make money but you are blind and or ignorant to completely disregard the effort that went into delivering such a wonderful reimagining of this old game.
@Sophisticated_Chap
I don't understand how holding your own event for the launch of your next system is arrogant. E3 is not the behemoth it used to be and more and more companies have found other avenues to market their products that are FAR cheaper. If they show up great, but I dont see the decision to hold their own reveal event as arrogant.
There have been misses with Playstations live service push but this is the industries time to gang bang on Sony. Others have had their teeth kicked in, now Sony will need to take a few on the chin. If anyone listened to the interview Greg Miller had with Shu, I think his point was well made. Sony probably provided MORE resources to try live service, not replace. If you try and fail so be it. I would say I am the Playstation fan that would be 100% ok with absolutely no live service or mul...
