AAA games are not designed for ultimate fun anymore, they rather try to focus on a larger audience to increase sales. Gameplay, at a large, is a large imalgamation of general gameplay and features rather than a larger focus on specific genre and atmosphere. Decision based games being as true to life and impactful with every decision made.
Detroit: Become Human had some incredible choices to be made, however there could have been more story changing elements, like walking in front of a crowd of people protesting androids did not spark more rage, they were primarily placed as scenary. I would have expected them to start heckling me or at least some indivuality in more than just the androids.
Definitely has to be the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch and it's rise in indie gaming. That's what 2018 has excelled in
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, PS1. My first platformer that has kept me interested in the genre, all the way up to NSW platfotmers
Definitely rogue likes. Having each play through completely different with a chance to be incredibly wacky is something I've always needed in my games and have been missing. There is something abort resisting the urge to pick up a bad item that just gets me going.
