@cgoodno
You're expectations for the presser weren't met... but to rate the conference less because you had expectations for something that they didn't show is unfair. I was disappointed that there was no update on The Last Guardian, but I'm not going to think less of it because of that. Since I'm not attached to a site constantly, a lot of the information was new to me, so I'm gonna base it on what WAS shown, and that was decent.
I agree ther...
I've never been so floored from watching a demo I knew nothing about. This looks stunning and I can't wait to give them my money.
Technology wise it's an interesting concept that needs a lot of polishing. Just because you and I weren't interested in it (I'm definitely not the target audience) doesn't mean they shouldn't have announced it here, though.
It makes sense to at least announce it, since it's not just the gaming sites/blogs that cover E3, it's most every major new organization. This means the announcement will have a better chance of reaching their target audience,...
@cgoodno
You will always be disappointed if you 'grade' on what was shown, rather than what could be shown. There is so much speculation before these press conferences that people think of the most awesome things ever to be shown... and a lot will never happen because the speculation is way over the top. Although I'll concede the point if you were considering "The Last Guardian" in that category.
And while I'm not disagreeing with the firmw...
If your choices are food and gaming and you even consider gaming, then your priorities need adjusting.
And for the record, saying "name brand" food translates to buying the most expensive version of a product, simply because it's the most expensive... it has nothing to do with chasing rats in your back yard as your only option of eating, like your other comment indicates.
I'm going to make a stronger effort to use "cheeky cunt" in my everyday language.
So CLF, you would have been okay if the Catalyst hadn't offered the three choices, but instead one of the three endings played out automatically based on your choices?
I clicked on this story simply because of the Psychonauts icon. I would love for this game to be HD on PS3 very much. If it came to 360, I'd probably end up buying one just for it.
Please ignore the Frankfurt troll. He/she/it has nothing to add to this conversation.
Yi-Long... what you're describing is gameplay, not graphics. That is has the graphical capability to keep up with the gameplay is excellent, but it does not make it graphically superior to Uncharted 3.
And many people consider Uncharted to be graphically amazing because the slower gameplay let you discover all the fine detail they put into their texture and level creation.
Perhaps you are angry about something else and taking it out on me?
I'm so glad that there are people out there that understand the truth of this situation like you. I'm all for voicing opinions on the ending, whether someone hated it, liked it, or just shrugged and moved on. If this doesn't happen, how would developers know what people liked?
But demanding or expecting a change in the product is just counter-productive.
I don't know whether that's an insult to Glenn Beck or William Usher.
@vortis: The article the author specifically references has Pachter talking about those upset with EA about ME3. The only generalization I saw was that gamers as a group are one of the most vocal on the internet, but he's not exactly wrong on that. And that because fans are vocal, companies take longer to make games so that fans are happy.
@soldierone: true true true.
I'm glad Capcom is getting some negative repercussions from their actions. Still, it's hard to take the author seriously when he brings up his disagreement with IGN and Pachter and their "entitled gamer" opinions. Especially since all the quotes he has from Pachter focus on reactions to EA, and not Capcom.
A lot of us are unhappy with what they said about entitlement, but don't try to spread misinformation like this, it makes all of us look bad.
At this point I don't rely on either. I play a demo or rent/borrow the game from someone who bought it or just buy it.
It's all about people's opinions, and reviewers might not be invested at all. Too many reviews start with something like "I don't normally play games like this...." and then the review shreds the game.
And users' can be too invested, which leads to either a perfect score, or a complete zero score. Neither or wh...
PC gamers don't deserve anything extra.
You chose to wait to play it, that doesn't mean you deserve something extra.
Totally agree, and written better than I could have. So, thanks!
No, you're right. You didn't say that specs were everything, and they do mean something. And to be honest, I vented other frustrations on you, so... sorry about that. And your attitude isn't snotty or anything like that... so a double apology.
The point I was hoping to make before I typed my response and ended up venting is simply that specs are lower on the list of what sells video game consoles, the Wii and PS2 being prime examples of this.

It's a great demonstration of what graphics could/will be like either this generation or in the next generation of consoles, but the graphics have never been a negative with Final Fantasy games. They've always used the current technology very well and have looked amazing for their generations.
I hope Square-Enix realizes they have some catching up to do with concern to the gameplay of the Final Fantasy games. I think the industry as a whole is better off if companie...
