SE, do you want mine and many other's $? You won't get it unless you make a PC version that is optimized and maximized to the PC platform's full potential. A proper PC version (not a shitty port) could yield at least an additional 1-2 million sales and help this game be viewed as a much bigger success than it otherwise would be on the current consoles alone.
Can it play CDs and mp3's, flac (including 96khz 24bit and 5.1 variants), aac, and raw mp4 videos yet? Does it have all of the A/V home theater configuration options the PS3 had? Wake me up when they get serious about this console beyond being a gaming only machine; I've already given my PS3 a lobotomy to keep it running cool and quiet, it's not going to run forever...
You nailed it right on the head. The decision for N64 to go cart-based was almost as big of a lightning bolt (and subsequent MAJOR fork in the video game history road) as their decision to ditch Sony as a partner for a CD SNES add-on a year or two prior. Silicon Graphics wanted the best for N64 and had even suggested pairing brand new DVD tech with the console to match their mini Octane workstation processor that powered it. Square never would've left Nintendo, 3rd party support wouldn...
They did have a huge sale on Android over the holidays which I used to get 1, 2, 4, and 5 (already had 3). Hopefully they'll have one again that includes 4 After Years and 6 (though I'm not too happy with the sprite art vs. the original, which I played to death when it came out on SNES)
Plug in a console controller (or better yet race wheel and pedals) to your PC, plug PC via HDMI out to the massive HDTV and home theater system of your choice, and don't forget to enjoy yourself :).
Far as I know all servers have been running fine for awhile now (I play on Sargantas and haven't had a problem since September), and it's $15 per month, not $30. Less if you pay for 3-month chunks.
That and/or PC. Could've just used the cutscene assets for the whole realtime game engine, doing a full DX11 version (including full camera and object motion blur, bokeh dof, and dx11 MSAA that also handles alpha textures like Crysis3's implementation (maybe some adaptive supersampling AA options too while I'm at it?))that would port to PC and PS4 pretty seamlessly. Dev bang for your buck, and everyone wins! Sadly it probably won't happen :(.
As a player who used to be a hardcore WoW raider (through Burning Crusade), who has only had time to play XIV ARR for 5-6hrs a week now, I LOVE the game. The story and gameplay even when solo'ing is superior to a lot of modern single player RPGs I've tried over the past 4 years, and feels more like "Final Fantasy" than anything since FFIX. The music is incredible, graphics have their issues but has the best lighting and shadow system of any MMO out there. I love the story ar...
I wonder if you can change the screen mode to accommodate turning your LCD vertically? Of all the versions of this game, I remember the Gamecube one being able to do this, but I couldn't exactly turn my CRT 90° back then, haha.
Yeah I think cautious optimism is the way to go here. Everything looks and sounds great so far...can the final game deliver all they're promising and restore the series' reputation?
So in other words, screw the PS4 and just go with PC...which is already more powerful than the PS4 will be when it's released in 2 years...
Square's Luminous Engine tech demo at E3 was running 100% realtime on a regular PC with a single Nvidia GTX 680. Next gen consoles can only dream of having that much video power, unless they hit retail at over $1000.
Also keep in mind, the PS2 actually had the weakest hardware of its respective generation, but Squ...
Considering these are just touched up from the originals and not full re-renders, these are pretty good! I think an even bigger mod in terms of enhancing the PC version experience would be fixing the controls...the PS1 original version had full 360 degree analog movement and no need for a separate run button. Currently the PC game has one movement speed (unless you hold the run button) and is limited to walking in only 8 directions. HUGE kudos to whomever can fix that! In the meantime, I'...
