The guys is entitled to his opinion. Only thing I would say is it is a shame he tars all GZ writers with the same brush - maybe you have read some bad stuff there, but there is a lot of great stuff too. Sorry you aren´t a fan!
When will Nintendo give use some NEW franchises, instead of constantly rehashing past glories? *I´m gonna say it* - even Zelda is a stale old franchise, and "resurrections" such as this do the company no favours either.
Only Mario seems to have endured - why not thin the crowd and give us some new characters? My kids should´nt be playing all the same characters as I did at their age, surely?
Yes to Goldeneye more than anything, but to be honest, Rare are a totally spent force. It has been far too long for anything of any real note, and also far too long between games altogether.

The problem in every case is individual to the game: some games require more linearity than others, but obviously, the more freedom a game gives, the looser the plot is.
Some of the best games out now offer the players the tools for their own story: it really depends on how people are supposed to be attached to the protagonist. It´s essentially a MP vs SP debate in a refined format.
I just can´t seem to do the whole MMO thing, it´s too all consuming.
