no they didn't. the games have new features and some of the games, like the world ends with you, is a game i never played so i'm super stoked. hyrule warriors was a really run game as was DK tropical freeze, so it will give players who never had a wii u the chance to experience several excellent games. and mario tennis looks incredible.
honestly I don't think it will be. the PS2 is hard to top, that was such an amazing console, and the SNES still has the best library of games ever. the switch is an amazing piece of hardware but it won't surpass the ps2 or snes. the SNES classic makes me realize that more and more.
It's different with the switch though. No one bought the Wii U. It was a failure. They're bringing games over that no one has really played before and it's not a bad business move, plus they have a ton of original content up to this point. It's only during this past direct it's been quite a few ports, and bayonetta 1 and 2.
There are a lot of amazing consoles over the years. This generation has finally come into its own and isn't plagued by remasters anymore or games being developed for last-gen and this generation anymore.
money :\
I really really really want this game. It looks incredible.
I really really want this game.
@switchfan companies have been trying to do things about used games for years. I love trading in games, it's how i got my switch and there were times I needed to sell games for money because of a financial emergency.
Still one of the greatest RPGs of all time. It's too bad EA totally destroyed the series. :( Mass Effect was truly special.
I never thought of being a subscriber before. I am now.
@Septic Microsoft has made mistakes like ever other company has. Nintendo had a horrible few years with the Wii U, but now look at them. Last year was not good for Microsoft, but they seem to really be bouncing back and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a few games up their sleeves, like big hitters like Halo (which were teased in this announcement), ready to go by later this year. I think a new Forza Horizon is definite, and in my view that's superior to the mainline forza games (...
@Septic regarding PSNow, that service is trash. The input lag is so bad its makes games nearly unplayable last time i tried it . It's not nearly as popular as the Xbox Game Pass is right now.
This is about the long game. short-term you may be right, but Microsoft could easily change the direction of the industry with this, if it works as promised.
@aspiringpro you aren't wrong and I am still pissed I paid $10 more for LA Noire on Switch, but, Nintendo fans are so loyal it may not have as large of an effect on them. But if the Game Pass ends up being a huge success everyone will need to change their business model.
@spaceranger PSNow is a horrible service. Gamefly has never taken off. The real appeal is all first-party titles being available and being available on day one. This could potentially change the industry. It's a very smart move by Microsoft and the game pass as it functions now is excellent. I've tried PSNow, it is not impressive the least bit and there is so much lag.
I'm looking long-term. What about when Gears 5 and Halo 6 hit? My brother has the gamepass and is going to continue with it and not bother to buy games. It's more economical, it cuts out the middleman, and it gives you the ability to play all of xbox's first-party titles. Some people buy games for the short-term then trade them in. This won't happen with the game pass. There are already retailers in Europe who are pulling xbox all together (an austrian retailer is one example)...
microsoft is playing the long game and this is an incredibly smart move. if this subscription works out, and i think it will, sony will need to come up with something similar or they may be left behind at some point.
I don't think it will affect Nintendo as they do their own thing and their fans are so loyal, but, it could affect Sony negatively. If Microsoft essentially creates the netflix of video games, it will forever change the industry. They are way ahead of their time, and were several years ago but caved to pressure and changed the features of the console, which was kind sad.
This is a genius move by microsoft and could be great signs to come for this year. Hopefully they are holding back Gears and Halo, and it's entirely possible given the fact that one of the major appeals of this subscription service is access to first-party games. Hell, it totally screws retailers like gamestop who regularly screw people over which is fantastic. it cuts out those horrible retailers.
the difference for me, and this is just my observation, is that for the first two years or so of the PS4 and XB1 that's almost all we got, and games that were kinda subpar because development was split because they were still putting games on the older consoles too. the thing is, the switch came out with so much original content from the beginning and mario and zelda within the first seven months. now you could argue that zelda is a port, but they spent extra time to optimize it for the s...
