I ended up downloading it on my Steam client and started playing it again last night :D
Makes me want to play through half life 2 again. Ravenholm was excellent.
Single player looks interesting, might give it a try.

I agree that there should definitely be spoiler warnings in game reviews. I don't think it's quite as important in the games world as in movies etc, but I still don't want someone to spoil the surprise.
