It's funny, I came to N4G today to find all these stories about Home finally being released. This particular article would have been the hottest in the PS3 section eight months ago. I wonder if Sony has squandered an opportunity by delaying it so much. Granted, if it wasn't ready - it wasn't ready... and I'd rather have a polished Home than a crap one. Still, it seems like there is far less enthusiasm than I would have expected.
All that being said, I'm also really excited to get...
Leo Laporte, for those who haven't been keeping up with the Internet in the last ten years, is the host of TWIT (This Week In Tech) and The Lab on TechTV. He previously hosted Call For Help, and was a part of the Screen Savers. He's one of the foremost voices on internet culture.
Lair isn't the greatest game ever made, but it's FAR from the worst. I think the expectations were high, and they just weren't met. I got my PS3 a while after the Lair release, and had only heard bad things about it, so my expectations were low. I actually found the game really fun.
I'm exchanging my 40GB PS3, which was a replacement for an 80GB that died, later today! Since Best Buy ran out of Motorstorm bundles a while back, I've got a Metal Gear Solid bundle waiting for me. :)
A great update - a couple of good looking demo's, some nice add-on content, the Qore thing...
...I'm going to have to wait to pass judgement on Qore, see what others think of it first. I like the idea, not sure if I'll be crazy about the implementation yet.
I've tried not to get my hopes up for it either, but I think with the power and experience Sony Online Entertainment has in the MMO field, Home has a lot of things going for it. I have a feeling it could really jumpstart the PSN and help dispell the myths about PSN being a sub-par XBL.
It does look beautiful. I'm a big fan of the Planet Earth series (which I proudly own on Blu-ray) and I finished it recently. I particularly enjoyed their footage of the African wilderness. If you can capture that in a game, that's a point for you.
But while this "game" called Afrika has me stoked on that level, I'm just not sure what it's "about". Is it a game, or a visual experience? A game typically has conflict, adversity, or clearly assigned objectives. ...
HOORAY FOR BEAR GRYLLS! Down with the mob mentality knocking the Bear. That man is a genius.
The music in that trailer, btw - is Mattafix - Living Darfur.
I lost an optical drive in my first one - an 80GB. Luckily I have a 40GB to replace it until the new 80GB's come in... and in my investigation it doesn't look like BD-ROM failures are common (at least at this stage), so I'm not too worried.
The Battlefield games on PC have 64 player servers. If a PC can do it, a console can. There's no difference from a client perspective, just from the server side. The network needs to be able to accommodate it. Logistically it's been done - a long time ago. We know that 60 players can work from a gameplay perspective. Will it work on a console FPS? We'll see, but my guess is YES.
It's like a combo of panache and pizazz. it's penazz!
Well, I'm possibly one of the few here that's played both of the first games. Resistance is likely the better story, but it is a more standard shooter. Technically, GeOW2 is more innovative for implementing the third person gun and dodge system as well as it did.
However, RFOM2 runs at 1080P, while GeOW2 runs at 720P.
...I can't believe I just brought that up. Seems to childish. But this is a childish thread, so I'm fanning the flames. ;)
I'm a PS3 owner, and I wanted Bioshock so bad, I bought it for my PC.
Personally I found the Resistance demo was lackluster... but then I heard good reviews, so I bought it anyways - and thankfully I did, because I loved it.
Haze demo was also lackluster, but I have a feeling it may not do justice to the full game.
Well, yes - it's a recording off a screen, which typically is of poor quality. Still, it conveys the idea... and every time I see something from KZ2, I think it just looks better and better.
I don't need Bioshock on my PS3. I played this 360 exclusive months ago - on my PC.
Having worked in support for years, I know that a lot of people call with complaints about their broken hardware and naturally, they are upset. Still, after hearing for the 300th time "Would you rather I buy the OTHER company's brand?" - yeah... you would also feel like saying "Sure, but trust me, it won't be any better".
It's generally a customer threat, and usually comprises their final play at trying to get something they want. Regardless of if their argume...
No no no... stop giving us PS3 fanboys a bad name.
The game does look good. I'll agree that I think Killzone looks slightly better. Maybe that's graphics, maybe because I like the gameplay of first person games more than third person... maybe I just dig the more industrialized look of Killzone. Still, GeOW2 looks pretty slick and I'm happy for my 360 friends. This one is gold. I can't wait to play it on my PC.
Dualshock 3 contains SIXAXIS. It's not used in every game, but I'd rather have it than not, because I've seen a few really cool uses for it... namely the flying in Warhawk, the arrows and thrown objects in Heavenly Sword, and the ability to shove a creature off you in Resistance.
It has it's place, if used sparingly and in the proper manner.
