look, microsoft has conditioned their xbox fans that they can get games for less than 7 moneys a month without buying them.
developers only get a fixed amount for games and while that is a net positive for them, they are losing out on alot of money if the game takes off in the long run.
so im not shocked that devs are moving away from that. its still a business and if they cant make money from it, they wont do it.
