True in pve, but backstabbing has ruined the fun of pvp for many players. It's so overused and made fights predictable thus boring. I expected a nerf like this. I think you might still be able to backstab effectively in DSII if you build your character for it. There could be rings or weapons that boost BS success rate. The important thing to th developers is to encourage diversity.
