I'm more curious what else is downgraded. Possibly lower poly meshes too. I know the PC version of Callisto Protocol had an option to select mesh quality as well as environmental quality. I own a PS5 and find myself playing most cross platform games on the Steam Deck. I'd love to be able to play new Sony games on a handheld without dealing with the latency of remote play or waiting for a PC port.
Yeah sorry to say but 2+ years after release they're not next gen anymore they're current gen. They're also a lot easier to get.
I imagine it'll be like Control and Guardians of the Galaxy on Switch. Cloud versions. That would line up with parity.
This sounds like disaster waiting to happen. Does he realize how much longer games take to develop than movies? He expects narrative of a game to line up with the movies 5 years down the line. Anything can change in 5 years and game delays happen. What if the live action story runs past the game story? Will he rush it out?
The practice itself isn't a great one. If I paid $70 for a game I want to play it whenever, wherever regardless of internet. Redfall is one I'd play on game pass anyways though and to do so I already have to get online to get it. Oh I use a headset myself I'm just saying anyone not using a mic to communicate in co-op is doing it by choice not because they don't have a mic since every PS5 owner technically has one.
Absolutely love Returnal but the co-op hasn't been a good experience. Most people don't use their mic built into the dual sense and there aren't any more resources on the map than in single player so communicating what to take and leave to build up both players is key. I platinumed the game before the Tower update but I can't help someone who grabs everything and runs rooms ahead yanking my tether.
I have an Xbox Series S, a PlayStation 5 and a Switch OLED and I intend on enjoying all 3 this year. Though personally each one only has one big first party title on my radar. Starfield, Spider-Man 2 and Tears of the Kingdom. Plenty of games to go around this year though.
I doubt they'd get paid that seems like it'd open the door to being sued for "selling" a copyrighted work.
As for why this could be a big deal? IF this early build features any story content, locations or machines not present in the final version it could give some indication what to expect from the Burning Shores DLC or maybe even Horizon 3.
I'd love a peak at Housemarque's next game. They started working on a new IP shortly after Returnal launched 2 years ago and have been in full development for over a year after the Tower and co-op release. Returnal was so good I still do random runs just for fun.
