True, but that also reinforces why the suits would not want him in charge. In the end, the last guardian was a financial failure that somewhat sunk that development team. Even though I agree with his decision to complete it for the fans, ultimately it came at a cost.

Yeah I hate that hub setup too

I remember my friend and I being stuck on the Coruscant level forever

That would completely change the development of the game to incorporate. It would be fun, and would have been cool. I wouldn’t call it a misstep though.

They won’t get to play the game for free if they continue in the direction of incorporating micro transactions for bits and pieces of gameplay that should already be included. Are you that dense that you can’t see how they would like to use this revenue to make up for lower software sales due to those very same game pass subs? The irony here is that you are trying to come across above the fray as if this is some grand conspiracy against Xbox, when it’s you who is missing the forest through th...

Why wouldn’t it be $69.99? It’s a fully featured game with no micro-transactions and releasing with a physical copy available. Nothing wrong with charging the normal price for a full game.

If the games made money the studios wouldn’t be closing. Blame consumers for not supporting “indies”

It’s going to be hard to say the possibility is higher, considering there is already a Crash Bandicoot 4.

No they wouldn’t have. Xbox has already been an unprofitable hardware business its entire business Game Pass is also, as of this current time, a money losing venture.

I would like Xbox hardware to stay if for no other reason than that it provides extra pressure on Sony. However, the simple reality is that Xbox has never been profitable. Microsoft probably would make more money by selling software on PlayStation now that they’ve become arguably the largest video game software company in the world with Activision.

I think it would work for most of Sony’s single player campaign games too. It’s really only the twitchy competitive multiplayer games (ie COD) that are probably not great to play on it.

Steam deck OLED starts at $549 with on average less battery life. Thats the price of almost 3 PS Portals. Even the cheap LCD steam deck which actually has a smaller screen than the portal is double the price. Not to mention needing to have a PC library of games to get a lot of the benefits, but there’s a lot of console only gamers who only use PlayStation. There’s nothing wrong with the steam deck, or ROG ally or the switch or any of those. But it’s just silly to compare to what Portal is act...

There were a lot of really awful games 20 years ago selling for 49.99 (which is more expensive adjusted for inflation than 69.99 today). It seems worse because you have gotten older and your tastes are maturing. It is natural.

Do you not understand the concept of inflation? Blockbuster games accounting for inflation are WAY cheaper than they were 20 years ago. Now that being said, they’ve made up for it through higher volumes and selling DLC etc. However base game prices, especially for single player experiences like God of War, are indisputably cheaper (adjusted for inflation) than 20-30 years ago.

Everyone trashing GameStop and I fully understand why. However, they are not failing because they are selling funkopops or branded t-shirts. They are failing because the niche they used to fill in retail is simply not that desired anymore. Virtually every major retailers now sells video games, and used games can be easily purchased online. There simply isn’t the need for them to exist anymore.

Except several of those games did go on GP. You assume those companies wanted to go on GP right away even though that made zero sense for them when they’d make a lot more selling their games standalone for at least the first few months.

To be fair 3.6b is quite a drop from $69.7b

1238d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

Take Two’s $12.7b purchase of Zynga complicates any purchase from anyone except the deepest pockets (like MS, which is very unlikely given they just spent all cash for Activision). They are too big.

Yea but reports are indicating bungie will get to decide if games are multi platform or not.

1238d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

True - but the deal allows them to choose which platforms they want to be on (including Xbox) and to self publish their games. Actually I’m not sure what Sony is actually acquiring in this deal other than more software revenue. But I guess we’ll see more in time.
