I didn't need a poorly translated article to tell me that Cell is better than any other processor out there when it comes to certain multimedia tasks, namely video encoding. we've known this since 2005, when Sony first went on about how PS3 could decode 12 1080p streams at once in real time.

That said, it only excels at those certain tasks. There are a ton of other tasks where the i7 will smoke cell.

they can't even keep the current sku's running for more than 3 months... they don't even need to try to design the same thing in an even smaller case. they'll create a bomb and end up with a mountain of lawsuits from people burning their houses down.

that's pretty lame. psls hooked it up. i run psinsider.com and I was sure to mention them. they scored good with this one and deserve all the credit.

shooters will always be a part of gaming. too many people like to blow stuff up.

a new gow game a year would = a bunch of half @$$ed god of war games. I'd rather one every 4 years that rocks.

real 3d to me is 3d where you don't wear colored glasses though... like what is coming for PS3. having colored glasses ruins the illusion to me.

looks like someone might be trying to clear out some stock before a new, cheaper model launches?

well, my take on it is that it isn't the type of 3d you will see in the final version. sony's 3d glasses (which can be seen at the end of the march episode of qore, during the first burnout paradise video) are clear and LCD shutter based iirc. however, square wanted to give the impression of what the game would look like in 3d, so they divided the image up into red/blue so that we could get the effect without the need for sony's 3d glasses. the firmware updates are not only rumored, sony has ...

the pic is fake. look at the text in the bottom left corner... see how it's blurred, yet the "type of gamer" text sitting in the same box is not? also notice how the text boxes are skewed at an angle going down diagonally to the right, but the text is not. this results in the text being closer to the bottom of it's box on the left side of the picture than it is on the right, so the text isn't even centered properly. it's a poorly done photoshop.

and yes it is possible ...

Some of the comments on this story are hilarious. "The 360 doesn't need a browser! Browsers suck on consoles! Nobody would ever want one!"

... Come on folks. No, PS3's browser is not perfect, though it has improved with each firmware update and it does work well enough for sites like myspace, youtube, hulu, etc. PS3 also supports bluetooth, allowing wireless keyboards and mice to be hooked up (or you can just use that fancy touchpad/keyboard attachment thingy for the co...

What a bunch of garbage. First of all, this article fails to take certain factors into account. First of all, the majority of America gets their TV through cable or satellite, so these "hidden frequencies" are easily encoded into those signals if they existed. They also don't take into account the varying speaker sizes and volumes of various tv's and sound systems. A tiny speaker in a little 13 inch black and white CRT is not going to be able to hit inaudible low frequencies that wo...

that post by somanimalsdance is riddled with inaccuracies. First off, BD discs are not brittle and scratch easily. You can take a brillo pad to them and they still play ok (yes, stock BD discs, not specially coated ones). Look up blu-ray scratch test on youtube for proof. Also, BD disc drives are no bigger than DVD drives. The discs are the exact same size. That part was total BS. Also, they forgot to mention that the Xenon's 3 cores all share a very small amount of cache (1mb) while PS3's PP...

"You all have no clue how either the PS3 or the 360 work. To anyone with a little tech knowledge it would be abundantly clear that the 360 COULD run KZ2, and would likely run it better."

Is that so? I bet I know more about it than you do... I've been in the gaming industry for years and speak to developers for both systems all the time about the limitations each has. KZ2 cannot be done as is on 360, period, just like Gears can't work as is on PS3 either. Of course you w...

KZ2 could not be done as is on the 360, period. Gears of War 2 could not be done as is on PS3. Each system has their own individual strengths and weaknesses that each of these games is built around. So, where 360 excels over PS3, such as higher polygon-per-second count, lower OS memory usage, etc, Gears of War is written to take advantage of every bit of it. Killzone 2 is also written to take advantage of PS3's strengths over 360, such as higher bandwidth between it's processor, memory, and G...

I loved my 60GB PS3, but sadly it bit the dust. I'm currently working on fixing it though, and have made some progress (no more YLOD, actually boots now). If I were a new ps3 buyer who didn't care much about hwbc, I would probably pick up a 40gb unit just due to the fact that it does deal with heat better.

doesn't matter. their halo 3 engine had to take into account the limitations of the hardware it was designed to run on. if they could have made halo 3 look as good as killzone 2, they would have. but, they were not able to and still preserve the scale they were shooting for, so we got halo 3. halo 3 had the same big budget backing, same development schedule, so there is no reason why it couldn't have looked as good.

OK... Bungie couldn't even get a game that looked average at best for it's time (Halo 3) to even run at full 720p resolution on 360, yet they have the audacity to claim they can run the benchmark for all console graphics on the same system? okaaay...
