Sweet..
It almost looks as though they slightly fixed Ken's strange hair. Glad they added Ryu's Metsu. - Don't know if I like Ken's Ultra - Fei Long's 1" punch is great.
I'd still like to see the remaining new characters.
@GrandDragon
I believe when he was refering to 'film set' he meant that the backdrop felt static as opposed to dynamic.
I am definitely anxious to see if the risky moves paid off. For me final fantasy entries are compared to Final Fantasy 6 which I consider to be the best of the series. It's pacing, story and linearity to exploration ratio were great. I hope that these classic elements in FF13 were streamlined and not removed completely as early reviews suggest.
I too can deal with the removal of fetch quests in towns, as long as the most important character - the world/atmosphere/ultimate confl...
Some linearity is good, too much is very bad. My concern is that it is the latter.
The 'movie set' graphics remind me of Xenosaga Episode 2. The world around me looked interesting and I wanted to explore it - Unfortunately, I was always stuck on a track with little to no divergence. I hated that.
Still crossing my fingers, but hope is waining at this point.
I never said that it was a poor game - just that I am unimpressed. Friends of mine have said that the multiplayer is where it shines, maybe thats why you enjoy it so much.
For me, the single player game lacks the compelling story, atmosphere and characters that would constitute a game of the year. Maybe the definition of game of the year has changed focus to require addicting multiplayer over solid single player foundations.
I am a little surprised by this choice. I started playing Modern Warfare 2 last night and I am largely unimpressed. I am a single player kinda guy, and following some of the other games I have played recently Uncharted 2, Demon Souls and Batman AA, I found myself saying "This is it?"
I just finished the snow level with Soap. Does it get any better?
*I enjoyed the first game's single player.
Lets not paint only the PS3 fanboys into the absurdity corner. All extremists could be classified this way.
The point of concern for PS3 fanboys is that reviewers fault Final Fantasy 13 for linearity and a lack of content(uncharacteristic of the series). It is easy for them to draw conclusions that the lack of content was a result of shoe-horning the game onto DVDs for the 360. So in understanding their logic.
>Mediocre Game (because of) Lack of content
@ukilnme
We may be able to deduce the reality of the matter if Square-enix begins releasing a large amount of DLC containing side-quests, new areas etc. This might indicate that the data they trimmed for consistancy across platforms, lent itself to post sale and addressed the multi-disc issue on the 360.
Unfortunately there is a rule that says disc versions of the games have to be equal within both Sony and Microsofts licensing contracts.
Both a...
@blackcanary
Unfortunately, SE doesn't have the luxury of spreading the game across as many discs as they want. The have to pay Microsoft extra money for every additional disc they use. It doesn't make fiscal sense for them to put the game on 1 blu-ray for PS3 and 6 DVDs for the 360. They would have to charge a significant amount more for the 360 version to have the same profit margin across platforms. So to reduce the number of discs on the 360, PS3 fanboys argue that SE tri...
We all knew that this would happen - individuals that bought the PS3 with FF13 anticipation would scream if it were anything less than perfect because of the 360 port announcement.
I do find it interesting however, the design choices that were made that conspiracy theorists can draw links to:
The game was simplified to segment the story and gameplay into chapters. (The multiple discs for Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX had identical data on them which allowed you...

It's pretty clear to any gamer out there that you can already count 6-7 blockbuster exclusive titles that are coming in 2010. Halo: Reach will clearly be the biggest game of 2010 hands-down"
"The big thing about next year is that every single month we have a AAA title startin...
I enjoyed the DI demo. Definitely a GoW ripoff. I just finished God of War collection and it almost felt like a sequel moving on to the DI demo.
From the bands wrapped around his arms - (Chains wrapped around Kratos' arms) to the Crimson Cross on his chest - reminiscent of the crimson stripe on Kratos'.
I like the premise, I wish EA would have been more creative with the art direction and gameplay.
@ lordgodalming
WHHHAAT? Change the PS3 to October 31st and get PB or PW? What is this magic you speak of?
Nice try HHG. Registering a new ID to persuade the masses to have more respect for your idiocy.
"BTW, to all the former HHG fans. Don't get mad because he says something bad about your console, he is just trying to be unbiased."
Pulling fantastic ideas out of thin air to create inciting stories has nothing to do with being unbiased. You should check the dictionary.
Rediculous.
An amazing game. I have encouraged all of my friends to purchase it.. unfortuntaly it is sold out everywhere.
I played a lot of COD4, I played a lot of Resistance 2, I played a lot of Killzone 2. I just can't justify spending $60 on a game that fails to bring anything new to the table.
Uncharted 2 and Demon Souls currently have my undivided attention. Maybe I will take a look at it when there is a lull in video games to play.
I was actually thinking Bradley Cooper myself. I would prefer personality over visual comparability. Besides, Bradley Cooper has star power right now and would sell tickets.
Hopefully Hugh Jackman is to Uncharted as Tom Selleck was to Indiana Jones.
Maybe I havent yet discovered the functionality on my PS3 or my 360 that allows me to play with the exciting numbers of retail- but the very moment someone assigns 'sales' a value that outweighs quality in a game is the same moment individuals write themselves off as blind and incoherent fanboys.
If you believe for a second that 15-20 million sales is indicative of a great video game, you are sorely mistaken. Thats like trying to say that because 1 million people saw Spiderman...
But, Wii-fans need to avoid the same assumption pitfalls in commenting that it is going to have superior controls. 90% of the ports I have played on the Wii have been made worse by waggle, nobody knows at this point whether or not this will join the minority of decently controlled Wii games.
Gouken's 2nd Ultra is a Denjin Hadouken eh? That would be great.
From the trailer is made it sound like you would be selecting which Ultra you would be using before battle (similar to Street Fighter 3) If so that would be fantastic - I always liked the additional strategy of selecting your super before battle depending on what fight style you were looking to execute.
