Was going to say the same thing. Spectacular game no matter what you play it on.
Cool colors and the faceplates give me so much hope for special edition covers/controllers down the road.
Right!
That excerpt is damn on the money. It was my game of year in 2018 simply because it cannot be understated that they faithfully rebooted a classic series into something that felt fresh and weighty (literally) while still feeling familiar and honoring the story of this formally one-dimensional character. I loved the old GOW games but this felt like a much needed and ambitious reboot. Glad more are able to experience it.
Fair point. However, I could argue their mass appeal as big names in gaming come from collectively releasing on as many platforms as possible (*cough* looking at you Skyrim *cough*). I also agree that MS and Bethesda have had a good working relationship with MS especially during the 360 days but being an independent publisher allowed them flexibility to shift focus to other platforms performing better (exclusive deals like Deathloop) and they can't do that anymore. Sure, the stable money ...
There are probably more downsides than up in studio acquisitions. I'm currently reading through Press Reset and it almost always creates struggle with the artistic people and the money people. The real issue at hand is the rising costs of game development, even in the indie space. While it's easier than ever for creators to make things, getting those games to the level of quality and ample marketing to make it successful can be very difficult. Not to mention all the legality of things...
Regardless of which "camp" you're in, this is good news for gaming as a whole.
I'm game. This was some amazing stuff back in the day.
This looks so great. Hoping to see this make its way to other consoles at some point.
That's a whole lot of chedda...
Here's hoping they can regain their original magic. Although, we have heard all this before. No more words, just action.
Beginning of the end.
Hope this can overcome. Loved Alien: Isolation.
Easily my most anticipated game in the coming months. 2022 starting off with a bang!
Look forward to playing this when it reaches consoles.
Gorgeous looking game.
AAA gaming is coming to a crossroads. These companies need to pivot to smaller budgets, smaller teams, and more focused and varied offerings. It feels like most of the AAA space has just been chasing the latest game that produces the billions at the cost of innovation, originality, working conditions, and the uniqueness of the medium.
Looking forward to this integration. Hopefully they nail it.
Absolutely. It was a tough sell because of the learning curve but once they started getting the hang of it, they were hooked. We had three back to back sever wipes last night, probably some of our best games to date.
Good games mean gamers overall win.
