This is one reason why I switched last gen. That and in Canada, most games are the same price digitally or cheaper and digital has no tax(on PS anyway) I've saved a ton by avoiding physical. I'm getting the series X because the S seems like a total waste, but for PlayStation, I'm definitely going digital edition.
That's dependant on where you live. In Canada there's no tax on the PlayStation digital storefront, and games don't differ in price between digital and physical. So I'm actually saving about $10 by going digital. I dropped physical ages ago because of the expense and convenience (and I was a long time naysayer of digital)
Basically I'm saying I don't see this as tactical in any way. They want to please the fans that have been waiting by not delaying it (again)...
Actually they aren't wrong. In Canada there is no difference in price. On PSN there's no tax on digital so it's actually cheaper to buy digital here in that sense. I also see games go on sale far more often digitally than physically, especially on PlayStation. I stopped buying physical 3 years ago out of cost and convenience. It's where gaming is heading, may as well jump on board.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never understood all the articles claiming Skyward Sword wouldn't work on the Switch. From what I understand, Skyward Sword took advantage of Wii Motion Plus's gyroscope for its motion controls, and if I understand correctly, the joy cons use gyro as well. Not only that, but the Switch has shown in multiple instances that recalibration can be done at the press of a button, whereas the Wii's motion plus had a much more involved process to recalibr...
