People do realize that the components required for PS2 emulation were dropped for price reasons, right? So I don't see how they would magically enable it all of a sudden.
Awesome marketing campaign regardless of if it's staged or not.
@Biggest: You could argue that Uncharted should of had an online mode in the first place; that Mass Effect shouldn't have changes it's RPG-like structure; that Resistance should of kept it's uniqe identity from Fall Of Man into the sequel; that the first Killzone shouldn't of been an average game; that MotorStorm lost it's original feel with it's two successors. So, they were all flawed games from the beginning and therefore could be improved. You could also argue that...
@Biggest: You stated exactly what I did. All of those franchises still play relatively the same. They've changed locations, continued the story, fixed bugs and added more powers/weapons/cars and that's what Call Of Duty does too. Please try and prove me wrong on that.
I don't understand why it matters if it comes out annually. Explain please.
Also, don't blame the developers for hacks, blame the community.
@donnaluke2003
"...COD is the Madden of shooters. Nothing new or original."
I'm tired of idiots like you spouting that bullshit. You might as well be trolling. Read this.
"So many hypocrites, so little time.
I'm sure everyone complaining about "another CoD" are the same people eagerly anticipating Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, Elder Scrolls 5, Mass Effect 3, Resistance 3, MotorStorm 3 ...
Really? While Paradise wasn't the best I'll admit, it was nonetheless a worthy addition.
In my opinion, Burnout 3 > Burnout 2 > Paradise > Revenge > Dominator. Never played the first.
B-b-but what about Burnout? Pretty close tie between that and MotorStorm.
@Spitfire_Riggz: Except Black Ops did refine the formula. It took out the overpowered killstreaks and perks, balanced each guns stats and added a bunch of extras on top of that. Plus, each CoD takes two years hence the multiple developers.
@UnwanteDreamz: I think the biggest glitch I've into is the lack of footstep sounds in BO. The rest of them - be it MW, MW2, WAW or BO - are caused by people hacking and you can't really fault Infinity Ward or Treyarch for that. It ...
@No Way: Just because CoD doesn't have true sequels doesn't mean it needs to play (or look) completely different from the previous one. It's a continuation of a franchise so it must feel familiar.
@ravinash: You contradicted yourself. You're arguing that CoD remains the same year in, year out but then say that it's "like a box of chocolates" because you never know what to expect.
What?
Also, CoD does receive ga...
So many hypocrites, so little time.
I'm sure everyone complaining about "another CoD" are the same people eagerly anticipating Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, Elder Scrolls 5, Mass Effect 3, Resistance 3, MotorStorm 3 and Infamous 2.
Guess what?
They're all sequels, just like this next CoD will be. I doubt any of them are going to revolutionize their respective genres but people are still going gaga over them (myself included). A l...
Things like this is what makes me wish I had a gaming PC.
Simplistic, modern crap.
It'd be quite awesome if developers themselves added similar options and effects into private matches and such. At the very least it would instil some more variety. This also reminds me of the zany GTA cheats you could input. I wish more games would implement codes in such a way. Saint's Row 2 is the closest I've played to matching that brilliance; kinda makes you sad.
I wish they'd put out some free DLC every now and again, like what LittleBigPlanet does.
Have to agree with vickers500 here. Drake's Fortune - underrated. Among Thieves - overrated (but not by much). Uncharted 2 is still one of my favourite games this gen, just behind Resistance: FoM, MotorStorm and the original Uncharted.
I'm fine with boosting if it's for trophy/achievement purposes. Have you seen some of the ridiculous requirements for them in GTA4, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Far Cry 2 etc? It's unbelievable. Developers take note: create a fun and unique multiplayer experience to make people keep playing it. Don't add near-unachievable rewards just so the trophy-whores have to sift through the shit.
I felt Killzone 2 had an intriguing story but never really capitalized on it; it was merely competent. This trailer, however, looks to improve the base storyline in many ways.
Add a point to the excitement metre.
@Ranshak: If you've got enough money to buy all those PS2 games and are upset at not being able to play them then go buy a goddamn PlayStation 2.
I'm leaning towards Dead Space 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2 CE. However, that's only if my funds allow. At the moment, I'm buying quite a few titles off eBay on the cheap so, sadly, newer games have to wait.
How 'bout blaming the hackers. Derp.
