I wish they would have talked more about the raw performance of the emulator. It appears that it's being rendered in a higher resolution than the original 240i. This footage looks like 480p with a slightly smoother frame rate (in which I'm thankful, many N64 games ran under 30fps). There doesn't appear to be any texture filtering going on. The entire image seems to be darkened so that the white points have been reduced to a broadcast-safe grey, probably for people prone to epilept...

My 3DS was stolen. Nintendo made an improved model and released it at the same price point. I bought the improved model and I'm enjoying it. How uneducated of me, right?

While I'd be happy with a new IP, I think Metroid is overdue for an HD entry.

Here you are again, deadpoolio316, making the same comment on yet another Nintendo entry.

1. We don't know if the NX is a handheld or a console.

2. We don't know anything about its release. Iwata said nothing more than we will hear more about it next year.

3. It wasn't even an official announcement directed towards fans, just a fact they felt they needed to share with shareholders after their mobile announcement.

@Big-finger

Why does everyone have to recognize something as a masterpiece? That's not an objective qualification. What anyone considers to be a masterpiece is entirely subjective.

That's funny deadpoolio, why don't you STOP trying to claim the NX is being released in 2016?

We know nothing about it other than it's dedicated gaming hardware and that we'll be given more information about it next year.

Strawman. Anyways, it comes as absolutely no surprise that they left out voice chat. They always leave out voice chat or limit it to friends only. This is because they fear a PR backlash from parents claiming "my kids were harassed while playing a Nintendo game."

Is this an excuse from me? No. I wish Nintendo would realize that they're going to get bad PR no matter what they do, and take a modern approach to online functionality. However, I can't fathom why...

The touchscreen controls actually work surprisingly well. I can play as well as I do on the Genesis. That being said, the remasters also have gamepad support. The reason these remasters stand out is because they aren't emulated. They run in a new (though incredibly faithful) engine that displays at 16:9 without distortion and updates at 60fps. They also add additional tasteful content and address bugs present in the original code.

As far as your questions, I simply have n...

I'd like to see Nintendo continue making hardware. They keep prices low for consumers and try things that their competitors wouldn't dare. The more competition in the hardware market, the more incentive there is for innovation.

I, personally, don't game on Microsoft consoles anymore. I still want them to continue making consoles. They help to keep competitor prices in check and if they manage to nail down an awesome new feature, the competitors will imitate to kee...

Haha, "while they still can". I don't know which articles you've been reading, but Nintendo's is doing fine financially.

I think this article brings up an interesting point. For example, I personally don't like the Monster Hunter games. It's not because I think they're bad on any objective level. I see the kind of gameplay they're going for and the mechanics and world around it do a brilliant job of achieving that end. It's just not the kind of gameplay that keeps me engaged. It would be unfair to ask a guy like me to write a review directed towards those who are interested specifically in t...

Why would you want him to make a game that other people can't play? Even for a fanboy, that's a ridiculously selfish thing to want.

@BC_Master_Haze

1080p 60fps would be up to the developers. And what do you mean minimum? I sincerely doubt you have a 4k TV. If so, I really hope you've got a nice PC to take advantage of it. Otherwise you've spent $10,000 on a TV that can play about 10 Blu-Rays per year at native resolution.

I understand why Sony chose not to include backwards compatibility this gen. You would need a cell processor bundled in each unit to play PS3 games and that would make each console ridiculously expensive.

However, I expect backwards compatibility on future systems. I doubt Sony or Microsoft will be deviating from an X86 architecture anytime soon. Even without a unified OS, Nintendo still delivers on backwards compatibility on all of its major systems. It's been a conveni...

Anyone notice that these Microsoft shilling articles tend to come in waves?

I mean, not that every company doesn't have their hands in the paid PR cookie jar, but Microsoft seems to throw more money at it.

Everyone's making so much fuss over this. Gamefreak wanted to do something different and that something different would sell better on other platforms. Nintendo will always have Pokémon. They're legally entwined. Gamefreak and Nintendo will continue to benefit from that partnership.

I see this as a good thing. If Gamefreak turns a profit from this, it could grow the company. Then we can have more games in general on all kinds of platforms.

I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever game they release. I just hope the M rating won't cut into their sales.

The gameplay with two characters sounds like Child of Light.

I'd prefer $200, but I would probably go as high as $400 if enough promising titles were confirmed for release.

All of the headsets look promising. If Valve announces Half Life 3 and its compatible with Vive, I'll pay anything.
