Dying Duck --

This doesn't even have to do with the Xbox. No where in TFA does it mention the Xbox.

Sony does it too. Don't act like MS is the only one.

Very well said!

Everyone here is ripping on Microsoft for being so terrible but no one is talking about the Sony Rootkit issue which is far worse than something like this?

Sad part is Nintendo doesn't care nor do they need you as a consumer. For your 1 Wii you're not buying 10 other people are. I really don't see this trend faltering anytime soon.

Wow, you mean it took EA 3 years to get it right? Talk about taking your sweet time...That's pretty terrible that it would take any developer 3 years to get something like this right. Just goes to show EA doesn't care about the games they create. They know Madden will sell millions regardless of how good it is so why even bother trying to make the game perfect?

Did you even play Braid? It is NOTHING like Donkey Kong or Mario Bros 1. Braid is a PUZZLE game trapped in a platformer. Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong are not even close to puzzle games. Please.

Regardless of anything, Bioshock is still one of the best looking 360 games. Even if the visuals aren't improved it will still look amazing.

I already have the demo for Madden 09...it's called Madden 08.

Why does everyone assume this is Microsoft's fault?

What if Sony/Nintendo actually is having Bungie develop a game for them (Bungie IS independent now) and Sony/Nintendo was the ones telling them to keep quiet?

I'm just saying, could be possible.

There's some flaws in your arguements.

First, the time span between Win98/2000/XP were only 2 years a piece. The jump from XP to Vista was what, more than 5 years? PCs jumped a HUGE amount in those 5 years in terms of hardware for the price.

Secondly, try running Windows XP on the minimum specs you mentioned. I guarantee it runs very, very slowly on a 233 with 64mb of ram.

In terms of hard drive space, when XP came out hard drives averaged from 10...

I see now. So if any other company spends $300 million to promote their product it is advertising and marketing. When Microsoft spends $300 million to promote a product it is outrageous and demands internet backlash.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Yes, but what is your hardware compared to her's? Does she have integrated graphics? Does she have less RAM? New PCs these days are pretty gimped and probably shouldn't be running Vista. I have a pretty good PC and it runs Vista pretty much flawlessly. It all depends on your hardware.

Remember these work on a PC as well. It's a pretty cheap way to get some HD-DVDs and convert them to Blu-Ray or save on a hard drive for play on a media network. Just because the format is dead doesn't mean this can't have a practical use -- the movies are still in HD and are dirt cheap.

Why not? It's a premium service, you get premium features. Back on the PS2 you never got demos for free. You had to pay $5 for the PS Underground demo discs. I see NOTHING wrong with Sony giving this away. Plus you get calling all cars for free, thats $10 for the year. I'm definitely liking Qore so far.

Come on now...How is this any different from when OPM used to give demo discs with their magazine? Same thing. I love the sense of entitlement you have though..."IF I DON'T GET FREE DEMOS OF EVERY SINGLE THING THEN SONY IS F'ING ME"

This is no different. It's a premium service and as such you get premium features. Plus, so far Qore is awesome.

Your analogies are wrong. The problem is that EA didn't create/invent the NFL. McDonalds invented the Big Mac, Rockstar holds the right to the intellectual creation of GTA. EA didn't invent the NFL. This whole lawsuit SHOULD happen. Madden was $50 before NFL 2k5 came out at $20. EA lowered their price down to $29.99. As soon as they got the exclusive license they raised the price back to $50 (now $60). How is that NOT anti-competitive?

I don't mind unobtrusive and relevant in-game advertising. In fact, I was a little sad that in MLB08: The Show there wasn't in game advertising. Not seeing the authentic ads in the stadiums is a bit weird (the Budweiser and Citgo signs at Fenway, the Japanese ads at Yankees Stadium etc). It would have been a nice touch towards realism.

But yeah, if it were billboard advertising or something like that from MLB or Madden then I'm all for it.

Don't be so flippin sensitive. Does it suck you have AIDS? Of course it does. But if you really do, then you shouldn't spend your life worrying about other people's ignorance. Just live and let live. People shouldn't take offense to minor quibbles like that. It is what is turning our nation into a giant gag order where no one can say anything and everyone has to walk on eggshells for fear of hurting someone's feelings.
