well,blu-ray looks like it will be the format for next gen aswell,i think they'll use 50 gig(since most games don't use it now) and 100gig variations in the ps4,so costs will be saved and put to making the ps4 more powerful

IMO Sony will take a loss next gen but not quite as much as they did with the ps3,people should remember that hardware is not their main source of profit,software and accessories are,also it is one of the biggest companies in the world so if they lose billions they make back many more billions or even trillions

this so-called 'crisis' applies only to games requiring firmware 3.41 or below,as we all know mandatory firmware updates also come on the disc themselves and new games will eventually or they already require the user to upgrade to a higher firmware than 3.41 even if u want to play offline,also you can't play online either coz firmware 3.50 is mandatory for going online aswell
