I remember a time when video games were supposed to be fun. What the hell happened?
Upon noticing the photo chosen for this story, I have to say I'd really like to see a Comix Zone HD remake or a sequel. Wouldn't that be awesome?
Saying the iPod/iPhone is a threat to Sony and Nintendo is like saying GE is worried about their microwaves because somebody discovered you can EVENTUALLY cook a can of soup with a Bic lighter.
With all due respect, Mr. Hawkins ... stop talking.
but a game just isn't a game anymore unless I'm clubbing baby seals.
Oooohhh ... pretty mood lighting.
Oh Bioware, you've done it again!
Why does everything Bioware works on have to look so damn awesome?
Curse you, Bioware! You'll be the bane of my productivity for years to come!
I dismiss it for sacrificing game design fundamentals in favor of "new experiences."
The game should be a technological progression, not a technological compromise.
"It's not about market share, it's about profitability."
I've seen that parroted over and over on this board, but do you have any idea what that even means?
YOU CAN NOT MAKE A PROFIT AT A 12% LOSS. That would be the opposite of profit.
They are currently losing about $48 on every console sale, and their install base is so low they can't profit enough on software and accessories to make up for that.
They need a higher install base ...
I want it.
I really need to play Fable. What the hell is wrong with me?
No, yes, and maybe.
Man, that was easy.
Right, but Sony is staying put. They've created for themselves what amounts to a stalemate in terms of a revenue stream.
The only way they make money currently is through software and peripherals. They can't sell more software and peripherals unless they sell more systems, and they won't sell more systems unless they cut the price.
It's exceedingly simple: sell more systems at a loss, and then sell more software and peripherals at a profit.
Everybody is ...
Funny, that.
Sony is getting threatened by third party developers to get their install base up or they'll jump ship.
Sony's OWN VP OF MARKETING feels like his hands are tied until they get some better pricing options to work with.
This isn't just about a SALES failure. Sony is starting to piss off people they NEED if they're ever going to see a profit on the PS3 in its lifetime. It's turning into the Dreamcast fiasco all over again.
Yeah, I remember something about certain guns unavailable unless you purchased them individually.
I think the gaming industry sometimes has a real problem with "scope." Everybody wants to make the next great blockbuster, and fundamentals get shoved to the side.
It's kind of infuriating.
Should have been staring in video games sooner.
Some would probably look down their nose at a rehashed franchise title instead of a new IP, but I'm definitely ok with this one (and Mass Effect, of course).
Is it weird that I totally would steal one?
I'd wash it in the sink first, of course ...
... but I never forget a product I've peed on.
No no ... it was pretty much exactly as lame as you intended.
And by "lame," I mean AWESOME! *high five*
