It is far from lazy. Easily one of the best remasters ever released. Much closer to a full blown remake. They did a fantastic job with it.
When you read the headline it kinda feels like it is an official add on. That's the point they are trying to make I believe. Perhaps if they specified for PC players.
So you haven't played it? It has some pretty ridiculous graphical upgrades and lighting that rivals AC Unity which is one of the best out still. Go check out DF analysis if you need proof. I have put about 6 hours into already and it easily rivals most current gen games.

I'm pretty sure at the time the Dreamcast required Sega.net to play online. Obviously over time that has changed with Dreamcast Pi and stuff like that.

Consoles are not to blame for all the pc cheaters. Also crossplay isn't a greedy move. It actually takes money out of companies like Microsofts hands since people don't need an Xbox to play with their friends. Next time you want to make a pointless rant at least use a little logic.
