Corporations know the US economy is about to be in bad shape and they just aren't telling the whole story. The issues we've started in Ukraine and Gaza were things we could get away with in the past but countries are standing up to the west now. And despite western media claims Ukraine is losing badly and instead of draining Russia its us that got drained. Now countries in Africa and Latin America are rebelling and much of western economies were based on exploiting them. Many refuse t...
Adults understand this is how acquisitions work. If n4g wasn't mostly children, and worse, fanboy children they'd understand this. When companies acquire another company thousands of jobs often get cut. Adults understand this. Microsoft even talked about creating a large team that could be used throughout the gaming division back when they acquired Bethesda. A team like that eliminates multiple positions from a new company. The people who lost their job will receive 6 months compensat...
Zeref, Crash and Spyro appeals to children. Microsoft never seems willing to cut children off. It might be brand building or it might be they just won't deny them. But as for anything adult I don't think there are limits to what will be made exclusive. Like you said Elder Scholls was made exclusive. A lot of games will be as they buy more companies. Unless of course the government jumps in and ignores all of Sony's exclusivity deals, even ones that state companies can't work o...
Spiderman? Again? Remember when 3 Halos was too much Halo. Now there's like 5 Spidermans in 3 years but it's awesome.
It's as if millions of fanboy hearts exploded at once and suddenly were silenced.
This is so sad.
I think it will be easier for Microsoft to buy the next one. Given the way the FTC was humiliated by congress and that Khan will be fired because of her resistance the next head of the FTC won't be too anxious to interfere. The next one will be easy. Especially since Sony's exclusivity deals weren't made a big deal of yet. To prevent further acquisitions by Microsoft Sony needs to try to get a deal with Microsoft that stops exclusivity deals in return for no more acquisitions. So...
You're delusional with your ideas of Sony doing everything in house.
Sciurus, you can't disgust something that doesn't exist. Even if Microsoft taking CoD exclusive it can't be considered a problem unless Sony wants to stop all of its exclusivity deals.
Activision purchase approved. Which developer is next.
The fact that Microsoft negotiated several options and none were "acceptable " to the CMA shows the CMA never had any intention of giving Microsoft a fair chance. As I've pointed out before, if the CMA doesn't feel Sony's many exclusivity deals that block Microsoft from titles aren't anticompetitive given Sony's better than 70% of the market then the CMA doesn't actually consider anything anticompetitive. By saying Sony can't leverage their current advant...
That's what I said this morning on another article. We are going to see some UK Prime Minister type early exits from the CMA. It was obvious competition wasn't the motivation. If it was, all of Sony's exclusivity deals would have gotten canceled along with Microsoft's acquisition block. To allow a company in a dominant position to keep advantages through paid exclusivity is clearly not a level playing field. Microsoft's answer to that would be acquisitions. If you aren'...
MrDead explain how Sony's extensive exclusivity deals while having over 70% of the market aren't the equivalent of market consolidation. Sony fans just want the advantage despite fairness. But the UK, like America is falling apart. And it's based on allowing true oligarchs to maintain their fortunes by suppressing competition. Besides a couple of weapons systems I can't think of one industry the UK is a leader in. Except riding the US's --nis. It's a recipe for failure...
As Dirty_Lemons said the UK doesn't have much to offer. They're no longer an empire. They're a lapdog. That's why Sony could afford to buy them off. The CMA has absolutely no sense of justice or fairness. The only thing the CMA has the potential to do is to hurt the UK consumers. If everyone else approves Microsoft could walk away from the UK until they void all of Sony's exclusivity deals if things are meant to be fair until the console marketshare is even. Since that wil...
VenonUK the CMA argument was nonsense from the start. Allowing others to piggyback on Microsoft's work is a handout to Sony. One Microsoft can afford since business users already pay for the cloud infrastructure. But to continue to pretend Sony is somehow possibly injured when the CMA did nothing to limit Sony's payoffs to developers to stay away from Xbox while using their 70+% of the market as a bludgeon to push those agreements shows the CMA is a joke. How can you claim the cloud i...
I don't believe this was an honest process. There's no way they can look at years of Sony having a larger marketshare and look at all of the exclusivity deals Sony paid for during that time while having that much of a lead and determine that anything is hurting Sony economically. Especially since Microsoft hasn't said CoD would be exclusive. If nothing else it would seem Sony is guilty of years of anticompetitive practices and should be punished. Which is what it sounds like congr...
Explain how Microsoft buying Activision hurts gaming?
Since the cma doesn't seem to have an issue with exclusivity deals like the one preventing Microsoft from getting Square games Microsoft can get an exclusivity deal blocking Sony from all Activision games. For about 5 years at least. But I'm assuming the check the cma got from Sony will make them block that deal too. Sony must have paid a lot of money.
Not surprised this happened. I predicted it would. Sony spent a lot of money trying to kill Xbox by buying exclusives over the years. It was wrong for them to complain about Microsoft spending money to compete. No matter how bad you want to claim Microsoft management is, this was the most boneheaded move in gaming history. More than Don Mattrick's 360 comment. Sony should drop the case and never speak of it again. Here's my post from 176 days ago.

I promise you this isn't a gaming thing it's an economic thing.
