I wouldn't mind a graphically upgraded version of halo 3 for the xbone.
It shouldn't necessarily be a sequel to halo 4.
It could be a spin off or a prequel or falling anywhere in halo timeline before 4.

It's more like Sony showing kratos and stating this is not god of war four, since it says right in the title that they are saying that it isn't halo 5. Not "it isn't a halo game"
His not obliged to change your stance on the xbone. For others they are excited for the xbone and there is nothing wrong with that.
5 reasons to get xbone.
1. MS incredible online service
2. Exclusives like ryse, forza, DR3, halo.
3. Arguably an amazing and comfortable controller
4. Great OS features like the snap multitasking.
5. Every xbone is a div kit which could lead to a great indie support.
Can't wait for the xbone myself, if you don't like it then more power to you.

MS is still known for having the edge when it comes to online features for xbl (while psn plus is great value for what you pay thanks to the free games collection)
MS are investing 1 billion dollars exclusively for games and if the recent E3 is anything to go by, the signs are suggesting that they are focusing on core games again. The only thing remains is if that support will continue through the xbone lifespan.

Not reversing the original restrictions have permanent damage to xbone sales, while bad pr and the 180s will be forgotten in the upcoming years.

The benchmark was set with call of duty 4 which even Activision couldn't surpass and produce a worthy sequel as fresh and innovative as cod 4 was.
It looks no different than any fps. After all, if you're going to watch one gameplay trailer and say that it's nothing different without actually playing the game itself were even little details and changes like double jumps and mechs can make a very huge difference in the dynamics of the game, then you can disregard battlefield, halo, killzone etc as nothing new. All have the same fundamentals. It is the gameplay mechanics that makes the difference between those.

Cod will have more competition on the fps field with titanfall, destiny and and battlefield 4 (won't regard halo 5 or killzone as a big threat as both are available on one platform)
Not saying ghosts will fail or the next cod or the one after will, but if they keep rehashing yearly the cod franchise is bound to slowly burn and lose it relevance.
That what pes did, they released lackluster sequel after sequel till fifa came and kicked it ass.
One bad game for gears series doesn't mean the whole franchise is doomed. Besides, 343's halo 4 was much better than bungie's halo reach and halo ODST. lets give these guys a chance to see if halo 5 could be as good as halo 1-3, and even though halo 4 was very good on it own merits.

In the other hand without ms Sony probably won't bother improving their online, having party and cross game chat, making the console easy to develop for and including a headset with every console.
They are competitors, so it's natural that they will try to up each other and react to their competitor features.
All of this could've been avoided if they knew we aren't ready for an always online console with emphasis on digital downloads and DRM restrictions.
Especially when not all Xbox live owners have gold which clearly shows that there is a large portion of gamers who prefer to play offline. Besides, Israel (a country with very strong and well trained military) for an example have women that participate in direct combat.
