You are correct. All told my pc was $3000 and is 4 weeks old. Granted I went x99 and ddr4 so you could probably shave $500ish off that price if you sent ddr3 but I'm running everything maxxed at 1080p and I average 60 but have dips to 45 at random makes no sense moments. Running this game proper is not cheap.
I fail to see how file size makes a difference. Back in the dial up days I used to pirate stuff all the time. It would take days to download but I didn't care.

Well let's see...unlocked on my pc this game would run at about 200fps @1080p. Witcher 2 which is very old at this point but still has better visuals runs at only 60fps with uber sampling enabled and around 120 without uber sampling.
This games issue is a horribly inefficient visual engine. Its just straight up shoddy. It was hacked together for ps3 then posted to 360 for dark souls 1 then ported to pc as cheaply as possible. Then again for this.

My pc cost $2800 not $3000 and its now 2 weeks old and was worth every single penny. More people thave builds like mine than one assumes and since pc games actually scale any game can be made to suit high and low end as eventually low end will catch up
Bloodborne is part of a niche genre that will never have mainstream success because of its difficulty and no amount of positive press will ever change that in fact the constant barrage of "its so hard and I love it" are exactly why they don't sell huge numbers. It was an odd choice for Sony to lock down, definitely not worth the money. That said I bought my copy day 1.
The point is probably on xbox its instant. Whether you shut the system off or load another app watch a movie whatever etc...hit the game button and in a second you are in the action.
It's because ms is using a VM and Sony isn't. They are just saving a state to the HDD which needs to be loaded. Its a half ass way to do resume but at least it's there.

Yea such a good game. Grabbed it on a whim for $30 from a friend who beat it 2 days after launch and was gonna trade it in. Fell in love. Even my non gaming gf loved it. They had it on xbl games for gold a couple months ago so I sold my disc and grabbed it off there

Doa2 on Dreamcast was a revelation when it came out but my fav was doa3 on the xbox. They also did a pretty awesome port/update of doa1&2 on the xbox.
Skyrim was small for 2 reasons. One it had to be designed so it could run on the split pool of ram on the ps3 which required some design concessions and two the game uses a ton of repeated textures and other design elements. Hopefully their next game is bigger with less repeated art work and less linear dungeons.
