Why is it strange? I thought the PS3 and the PS2 were next to impossible to get to do what they were designed to do; let alone getting one to imitate the other.

Patents are odd ducks. Seperate people own the patents for electric car batteries, the method and hardware for attaching license plates, the constant velocity joint, and the leaf-spring system. And each one of those patents stands on the shoulders of other patents. Yet, we all drive all kinds of vehicles. Corporations give each other tons of cash and credit because of an arcane patent system; and the only people this system helps is lawyers.
Or, I could be completely wrong...
...how much of the Cell's time will it eat up calculating all that? I don't know; but would it be enough to affect the graphics?
