Let me just say this... I worked retail just 2 years ago, with a system that was ANCIENT by any big box store's standards, and I could track our stores inventory, what new shipment was coming in, when it was coming in, and the inventory of every other store in the district. Using that data, it's fairly easy to figure "sold through" numbers. Most large national retailers would have this done automatically.

I think you're burying ur head Canadian. While true that most developers announce games a year or more ahead of when they are released, you need to realize that Insomniac is NOT most developers. I appreciate the fact that this article recognizes the subtle differences in the two networks. The author made valid points for each, without any fanboi-ism, and came to a conclusion.
My opinion though, is that because the two networks are so close, feature wise, that it doesn't make sense to pay for a service when another is free. The reason people feel more "connected" to their gamerscore is because they pay for it.
That's it, bottom line. You're always gonna feel more connected to something when you make a conscious decision to pay for it.
It appears that this is not a Sony thing, but maybe a store thing. They comment that there is not word yet of a 360 version and there is a PS2 version.

did everyone miss the point of the article? seems most are thinking that it's talking about PS4 vs. neXtbox and wii 2.....
when it's really saying that the neXtbox and wii 2 will be up against the PS3 because it's only halfway through it lifespan. So they would be up against a console that has motion control capabilities as well as an established user-base.
It won't force MS or Ninty to not make another console though...
