I'm a big sony fan but as someone that used the ps3 for Linux I can tell you that this update was was wrong and just plain stupid on Sony's part. It seams WAY too early to make a slim ps3 and the pics look fake to me. I would like to see a price drop on the ps3, so that I save some dough on my second one. Nevertheless, only time will tell.

I thought the same until I actually read all of the intell from the the single player and the multi-player. There was allot they didn't flat out tell/show and it was a pain to read through all of it but, it redeemed the story to me.
Linux on the PS3 isn't really new nor is it really whats impotent here. it's that not only is it another distro on the ps3 but its Novell's SUSE -(which is a really awesome OS by the way youtube: SUSE compiz fuzion to see what it can do)- which is a sort of a big deal for the PS3 in the open source community.
