What exactly is the correlation? If you don't like the fact that D4 requires a persistent connection, that's fine and a fair argument to take up, but how does that go against the fact that they're promising content equality and clan benefits for solo players? Solo-player content versus offline gameplay is an apples-and-bananas argument.

I don't think we'll ever see a game take a retro, cartoony approach and not be harshly compared to Cuphead, or even be accused of being an imitation. Enchanted Portals is a very extreme example, though, as I think it's about as close to Cuphead as possible without outright infringing.

Cuphead is the type of game that will forever control that space. Call of Duty was impactful in the way you described, where it helped steer an entire genre. I feel like Cuphead is...
