A "good deal"? Care to back that up with any kind of evidence? Developers have actually said that it doesn't take that much. Kinect support was easily added to Forza, and games like Kinectimals look great. Even something as simple as Kinect Adventures looks far superior to any Wii game. It's in HD for a start. Don't mistake a cartoony art style for a technically limited graphics engine.

Haha, are you kidding? Is this really how ignorant people are of Kinect? The device with a 3D Depth sensor and bundled full body tracking is inferior in every way to a standard RGB webcam? Let's make one thing clear -- PSEye as a RGB camera is superior to Kinect's RGB camera. Same resolution, but better framerate. But Kinect only uses it's RGB camera currently for taking pictures and video, and for overlaying your body image over the raw depth data if necessary. The PSEye as techn...

I'm interested in Kinect and even I think Joy Ride looks crappy most of the time. It might have made a semi-decent mini-game or a Live Arcade title, but I think you'd have to be mad to pay $50 for it.

You see in the bottom corner of that Anti-Grav vid? That is what the Eyetoy is seeing. What they have basically done is created 3 "touch pads", 2 blue at the sides and one red in the center. These react to movement. There is absolutely zero tracking of a human body going on whatsoever. When you move your hand up and down the right pad, the board goes right. It doesn't have to be the players hand... it doesn't even have to be a hand.

Here is another example ...

What a gross misunderstanding of what Kinect is. The PSEye is just an ordinary webcam. Kinect has an ordinary webcam but it isn't doing any of the work, it's just for taking pictures and video. The real technology behind Kinect is a depth sensor with an IR projector and it isn't slightly better than the Eyetoy, nor is it an evolved Eyetoy, it's a COMPLETELY SEPERATE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY. Hit the disagree button all you want, it is a fact.

It receives direct, r...

Darkride, if you think that Kinect is "essentially a web cam" then you clearly have a massive misunderstanding of what Kinect is, and what it is doing. Thus I must take everything you say with a pinch of salt. Kinect does have a webcam in it, but it is mostly used for taking pictures and video footage. The actual technology uses an IR projector and a 3D depth sensor.

The article isn't called "Will Kinect be good this Christmas". I won't judge it's quality until I've played it, unlike some, but the evidence thus far shows that a holiday success is very likely in terms of sales. A sellout? Maybe a stretch, but totally possible.

Well they haven't really started their aggressive ad campaign yet, and they don't have the advantage of word of mouth from owners, yet pre-orders are already sold out at Gamestop (online and in-stores) and NewEgg, plus a great many UK retail websites I visit can no longer guarantee launch delivery, and stores like GameStation and Game are giving such warnings to avoid a "christmas disappointment". It isn't really that common for such devices to create such a retail buzz,...

You got all of that from a positive article saying that they've fixed the prior sitting concerns?

And if you seriously think Kinect was ever intended to be used with FPS's then you honestly don't get the point of it. Whilst the Wii and Move may slot nicely into current gaming, don't apply games designed with a controller in mind to Kinect. Of course it wont work well. Kinect will hopefully come into it's own when developers create games with that tech in ...

Another limitation? Read the article, the whole point of it is to say "The sitting issue is now fixed. Kinect works when sitting on a sofa, just not when on the floor". I bet you wanted to play on the floor so badly too... stop making an issue out of nothing.

He also states that these limitations are present only in Microsoft's default tracking software (which is updated constantly, and will continue to after launch), and a developer can create their own soluti...
