Do movie reviews sell tickets? Do music reviews sell "albums?"

Although I've never bought a game based solely on a review, I'll admit that I've NOT bought a title or two based on aggregate reviews.

I miss not having Ace Combat 6 and hope this delivers the payload. Looks good so far... keeping trigger fingers crossed.

On a similar note, as a fan of flight-based games in general, I wish someone would rekindle Colony Wars.

I can see why the Wii may suffer the most from a recession.

After all, it vastly broadened the "casual gamer" market. These folks are not the diehard, do-anything-to get-the-games-they-want for-their-system-of-choice gamers like PS3 and 360 owners are.

Many Wiis were purchased by the average 2.5 kids/mortgage/gas-up-the-miniv an household; and these unfortunate families will feel the credit crunch and bear the burdens of recession hardest. So given the cho...

"The April issue of UK Official Xbox Magazine has an exclusive preview covering 6 pages..."

But my MARCH issue of GI had an 8-page "world exclusive" of this MULTI-platform acid splattered gem. Last I checked, March was the month before April?

All that aside, this should be great (assuming the "SEGA" part doesn't foul things up)... We're on an express elevator to hell... goin' down! (Aliens 2 is filled with great lines!)

but since both are hobbies I enjoy, the PS3 was a natural choice. Plus, I'd just picked up a 1080p set, so the choice was even easier.

If I had only one criticism, it's that the fan can occasionally get a bit louder than I'd like. But this only really is bothersome in very quiet scenes. And I know many folks claim to have a super silent fan. Mine gets noisy, but not always and not for extended time.

But minus that, it really is an extraordinary package for the pri...

I agree that the original Goldeneye was a breakthrough (console) shooter in it's day. But haven't others since raised the watermark? I'd far rather see original IPs coming out than retooled classics. Now, if it were an unlockable bonus within a new game based in the Bond universe, that would be cool.

is the impact of striking objects and clashing steel. Or, for that matter, slicing through soft fleshy things like people or Ewoks. It always looks and feels a bit like flailing to me. It may seem more "realistic" to swing the remote or use it to force push, but to me buttons and rumbling controllers feel more natural.

It's annoying enough that developers feel the need to use the PS3's sixaxis in (often) contrived ways... So I feel for any Wii developer that has to ...

Don't get me wrong – I love each and every Mac I've had over the past 15 years, but I'll never confuse it with (any) gaming platform of choice... It doesn't even win a bronze.

In a way, it *could* be argued that nothing on a "current" console is Next Gen. That is because most people often tend to think of consol generations as opposed to software generations within a console's lifespan. Using that logic...

Past Gen (or Retro Gen): Anything from the PS1, NeoGeo, SNES (etc.) all the way back to Pong
Last Gen: PS2, Xbox, GameCube
Now Gen: PS3, Xbox 360, Wii
Next Gen: PS4, Xbox720, Woo (or whatever they will call the thing...

What they need is a bonus level in which you replay the scene from "The Final Countdown" where a modern day nuclear powered aircraft carrier is transported back to December 7, 1941... Tomcats versus Zeros over the skies of Pearl Harbor! Oh, the excitement. *yawn*

I don't have kids yet, but still don't have a lot of time for long gaming sessions. The story may be short, but is certainly sweet. And Kratos may be a badass, but I prefer watching Nariko's curvaceous buttocks as she kicks those of others.

I find the story compelling enough and, in a way, the perfect length to showcase the system... Once perfected, it would be like playing through (or acting in) a 2-hour box office blockbuster. And the challenge of glyphs and pots and such ...

begins in 2008. Even still, your point is well taken. By the time it (might) make it to other consoles, there will be a slew of other titles to choose from.

As much as I'd like it on PS3, I have doubts it would make it, especially to the Wii. It would likely be too compromised on that system.

I'm still in the process of working my way through HS and would agree that it is one of the more, if not most, cinematic experiences in terms of how the story unfolds.

In terms of length, I think it's just about perfect and like the way the chapters and segments are constructed. My schedule doesn't afford me the leisure time for dedicating gaming as it did when I was younger. So the ability to play through HS (or any game) in short spurts as opposed to extended sessions pro...

See you in the unfriendly skies.
