Er, this is REALLY old news. Game stopped selling GC games about three/four years ago and have to almost literally be forced to accept trade-ins of GC consoles or games.
It's quite sad as there's no doubt in my mind that the GC was a fantastic console. Just a pity that it didn't sell half as many as it should have...
I reckoned that it was only a matter of time before the PS3 really started hitting its stride and begun to eat into the Wii's lead over in Japan.
Of course, Sony have a long way to go before they can claim a victory as Nintendo are miles ahead in terms of gross sales, but this is a sign of things improving for Sony.

I just dipped my toes into my first Linux distro recently after doing a dual-boot of Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) alongside my trusty XP installation. Unsurprisingly, I've never launched XP a single time since as Ubuntu is faster, more stable, prettier and generally more pleasing to use.
I'll probably keep my XP installation for gaming only, but I'll be using Ubuntu for everything else.
Good to see some hate for GTA4 - I was worried that it was just me who thought that it was crap.
The thing here is the fact that Sony have, for a long time, been used to developing hardware and have a reputation for building good quality and reliable products.
I had a 25" Sony Trinitron which lasted me for 15 years before it eventually kicked the bucket - and I bought it second hand! My PS3, I'm sure, has plenty of life left in it.

Ah, that was a breath of fresh air. I had a similar experience to that guy - I went through FOUR 360's in the space of two years, all of which red-ringed on me. Although MS were quick to replace them, I lost complete confidence in the system and have made the switch to the PS3. MGS4 is definately one of the top five best games of 2008. It's a fact. The production values, gameplay, level design, sountrack, and everything about it is more polished than anything else I've seen this year. Nothing else comes close.

As the original article states, these difficulties, the lack of content, and any potential niggles are still being looked into.
I managed to finally connect to it for about 20 minutes earlier and thought it looked very promising. This is something completely new and revolutionary in terms of an online hub for a console, and to get these things right takes time.
Aye, this was expected - I'm not surprised in the least.
And as someone else pointed out - this is an open beta and NOT the finished product. I'm sure there's not long to wait now though.
Yeah, well... It's about 16:45 here (I'm in the UK) and there's still no sign of it on the PS Store or anywhere despite everything saying that it has been released.
Finally, Sony are getting some praise for their hard work. Their first-party development teams are definately (in my opinion) the ace up their sleeves. They have some immense talent working for them such as Fumitio Ueda (Team Ico) and the famous David Jaffe.

My personal take on controversial games is along the same lines, although I am an ardent atheist. I believe that games such as GTA4, which more or less glamourise violence, theft, sex, drugs, etc are morally repugnant and in an ideal world should have probably been banned, but I dislike things being banned for commercial consumption just because indiviuals like myself or a pan...
There were far too many acronyms in there for it to really make much sense, but the jist of the article to me is that it would be prudent for Sony to stick with their Cell architecture and tweak it for the PS4 because by the end of the PS3's lifespan developers will be used to it.
