Some review sites are just industry mouth pieces, slapping an 8/10 to 10/10 on anything. I always scroll down on Metacritic to get to the more trustworthy review sites.
Don’t encourage review score inflation. 5/10 should be middle of the road, mediocre game that you may or may not enjoy. Review sites have scored every game between 7 to 10 for so long we’ve lost all frames of revenue.
Meanwhile, on PlayStation, every game runs just as great on the $400 PS5 digital as the $500 PS5 with the disk drive. This is a simpler solution for gamers and developers.
Microsoft has cash to waste. The benefit of having a monopoly on OS and office software. Microsoft is going for a monopoly in games.
Especially surprising from IGN, who gives 99% of games a score of 7-10.
Mobile game = 90% micro transaction storefront + 10% gameplay.
No thanks.
Then we look at Nintendo DS sales. Switch is a handheld, and the ceiling should be based on sales of handhelds.
That’s like 90% of what made A Plague Tale so great.
Sony spent $70B on the biggest game franchise?
1 player on each team is missing.
How dare they offend the incels! First they can’t get laid. And now they can’t get games named after them! It’s an atrocity!
Inflation
Big difference between building a game for your audience and buying a game to take away from another audience. This negatively effects Xbox players too. They already have Call of Duty. They are losing whatever game Xbox would have made to compete with Sony. Acquisitions like this aren’t good for consumers.
Xbox should pay less. GamePass has fewer subscribers than PS+ Essential and PS+ Essential games are in your library forever, so long as you keep subscribing. GamePass games come and go, and when they go, subscribers have to buy them. So a developer needs more money from Sony because they will take a bigger hit from going “free”.
2.8/5 is generous, in my opinion. I give Overwatch 2 a 4/10. It is in every way worse than Overwatch 1, and worse, Overwatch 1 died for this.
I already bought Overwatch. In 2016.
“Deathlopp has proven a popular addition to Game Pass”
Has it? Let’s look at the data.
“achievement data suggests that almost a third of players haven't even managed to unlock the first achievement yet”
Data says the Deathloop is very much over hyped, which matches my experience with the game.
Sony paying millions for exclusivity is far outweighed by Microsoft paying $80B.
