I normally don't post that much. But I had to when I saw this part of the story. I'm surprised that some journalists don't even think of getting their facts righ.....sigh. I mean , this quote is preposterous

"Sony’s financial standing has taken a beating, including the games-selling division, which hasn’t seen a profit since this side of the PS2 era."

And it has been in black ever since 2008:

"After all, if it wasn’t for Sony, you almost certainly wouldn’t be making a living writing about video games."

Well said Sir, I know how I got into gaming.....

Apparently all people can think is of the negatives when it comes to the PS3. Some of the BS I have heard from launch day:

PS3 has no good games, but I have been playing good games from launch day. I am not sure how that works !!
PS3 has no BC, I have used my BC about 2 tim...

^ lol....I have a serious feeling the writer has never even heard of 'God of War' and what it means to a game console.... :)

Yeah right,100 million is the sales target of next God of War....[\sarcasm].

People don't realize that the PS2 sold a heck a ton for the fact that it was a good game console that could double up as media entertainment DVD player (a generation ahead at that point of time)..... So your right, not everyone is going to buy God of War.

But, This holiday season, if you want a the next gen entertainment device that could do the same, you know where the buye...

I am not counting the Ps3 vs 360 per say.
Compare the hardware renenues of both the gaming divisions, at least with the products shown in these numbers, in whatever form of counting u know....u'll understand what I am talking about.

I actually was expecting to see 'humpty-dumpty fall of the wall' when Guerrilla announced that they were making a game in First person shooter genre.....

Cmon, give the the guys some credit for taking one step forward.....we all know that they have done that here.....

What I was trying to say was considering these numbers, include the PS2/PSP sales and revenues. Compare that with MS revenues and you will see the Sony Gamin division as a whole is pretty healthy. Thats what matters @ the end of the day.
The hardware revenues they make as a whole are pretty much healthy and probably more than the MS gaming divisions(their only breadwinner being the XBOX360). That is what makes me think that there will be price cut soon.

I really dont the market share pointing to increased developer support holds any more... I mean no third party developer in their right frame of mind (unless funded by either first party) would want to prefer one console over the other.....

I mean there are 20 million PS3's out there, that itself is no joke ....

hmmm.....my take on the whole numbers

XBOX 360 => 299 * 1,440,000 = 430,560,000
PS3 => 449 * 726,000 = 325,974,000

Thats the Average sales(considering the average console price of different SKU's for both companies) ......

Considering that the the 360's boost is due to a price cut, it becomes interesting if we assume the lowest price point of both the consoles. Sony on the other hand, had to bank on its 'momentum' (whatever that means)

So much for "the Playstation 3 doesn't have quality games and is only good as a Blu Ray Player".

I have absolutely no idea how they can keep up the Anti-Aliasing together with so much amount of detail in the Screens.
There are no jagged edges that I can find....

Whatever magic GG has come up with, I didn't expect it so early in the PS3's life cycle.

I remember GG saying that they are looking at adding Online Co-Op as DLC. Lets hope that happens.....
