I may be buying my first Xbox One game.

I would have agreed had Microsoft not made QB a multi-platform game. Don't get me wrong, if it is as good as they say it sounds like it will sell well with existing Xbox One owners, BUT will not shift Xbox One consoles. There is just very little insensitive for console sales to spike now. Halo last November will be the last Xbox One exclusive to shift console sales significantly.

If Uncharted 4 causes PS4 sales to spike, I hope Phil Spencer reassesses the Xbox One consol...

I see that http://xboxamerica.com/prof... on Xbox has achieved a gamerscore of over a million, but how can you see how many of those he actually completed 100%? Must be close to 1000 right?

@n4rc it benefits gamers thusly...
1. 1st party matters because *good* exclusives shift console units. More console units means more players for you to play against at all hours and days of the year. Which means you can enjoy your console of choice *any* time you are free.

2. It matters to me that Sony owns a studio because I believe they truely understand gamers and gaming and the diversity and spectrum of games required. IPs like Journey or Uncharted, would have ne...

@jojo if it was the success Microsoft expected it to be.
1. we would know official sales numbers for the console.
2. The Xbox One would actually have console exclusives rather than multi-platforms.
3. They would not be shutting down 8 game studios as there would be demand for all the games.
4. They would not be talking about an upgradable console when they messed up by releasing an under powered machine in the first place.
5. They would be investing i...

@baodeus Based on that logic of "most contents do come from 3rd party" why keep the other studios at all then?? So Microsoft just becomes a publisher on all platforms. They can sell off or get rid of the financial overhead and burden of the teams behind Gears, Halo and Forza and let them self-publish or publish through EA or some other company. So get rid of them and wait for other 3rd party devs to come up with something interesting for their PC store?

I'm sorry...

t is a MASSIVE loss for consumers! They basically removed all the studios that gave the Xbox One the little diversity of games it so badly needed to get gamers of ALL types onto the console.
All the studios left are dude Bro shooters and Car sims.

Rare being the only possible exception. Can Rare really churn out a diverse selection of tastes for gamers who don't like Gears of War, Halo and Forza? I very much doubt it.

The other studios can'...

Not necessarily true.
Ryse, an obvious AAA New IP, released on X1, X360 and PC only sold 1.3million across all 3 platforms.

Do you know of any other new AAA IP that has sold really really well either on one platform or more? I'm talking about exclusives here, not multi-plat shooters.

New IPs rarely sell above 2million. Last of Us and Bloodborne are a couple of exceptions, but they are very very rare. Sequels are where the sales really shoot up.

New AAA IPs very very rarely hit above 2 million. It is usually sequels that end up selling much more.
The only recent new AAA IPs that sold over 2 million was Last of Us which has sold nearly 6million on PS3 and nearly 5 million on PS4. The other was Bloodborne, just over 2million.
So Quantum Break would need to be as good as Last of Us for it to hit your predicted 5+ million across 2 platforms.
Ryse only managed 1.3 million across 3 platforms (X360, X1 and PC).

The Xbox and PC are trying to be jack of all trades, master of none. It has lost its focus and Phil is NOT helping it's cause. He's in panic mode of how to save the brand under his watch.
Back to basics gentlemen.

Agreed. The only gamers who like BC are those who's console doesn't have compelling games THIS generation for them to play. When bored you look back at the previous gen's catalog. When you have great games, you never look back!!!

Sweeney will rarely post something so important publicly without first checking his facts.
Phil said everything would be clear and they would outline the so called "openness" at Build, at the end of March. Let's see if Phil is a man of his word and that it truely is open, or was Sweeney right all along.

If Phil backs down or only clarifies half of what Sweeney says will happen, I hope everyone jumping on Sweeney right now will also jump equally hard on P...

This is definitely plan B. Had Xbox One taken the world by storm, there would be no talk of upgradability from a less powerful console. Just as when the Wii sold like hotcakes, Nintendo didn't suddenly decide the Wii needed upgrading once the more powerful PS3 and Xbox 360 were released.

Look back at my posts, I've been saying for nearly a year now that Microsoft are planning to shelve Xbox as a console. If they go down the PC route, it will be the final nail in the ...

@343_Guilty I'm all for Microsoft making their console upgradeable, if all the hardware upgrades are free. Let's say for 10 years. That means I buy the first model and because I've show my love for them, they show they love me by giving me free hardware upgrades. Obviously the first version wasn't the *final* version, they then upgrade my console as and when. I would buy into that.
I bet everyone complains about upgrade would also buy into it, if Microsoft HW upgrades ...

How is it innovation if it is basically turning a console, with fixed hardware for 10 years, into a PC with upgrades every 2 or so years? So the plan is to roll back the clock 15 years back to the days of PC gaming.

The moment you make the box upgradeable, before the life-cycle ends, you immediately split that market, because some people will be able to afford the upgrade, others won't. Typically that only happens now every 10 years with consoles, but with a PC paradigm, ...

So what you actually want is a PC.
Don't you have one of those already?? Upgrade it, buy the PC version of all the Xbox games that will now be on PC. Problem solved!!
