Ask yourself this. Do you really want a half-assed Demon's Souls continuation made by someone other than FROM?

I agree but I do have 1 worry. If the weapon upgrade system is similar how will grinding enemies play out? In demon's souls I could warp to certain places within a level from the nexus by opening up archstones. With no nexus how will I warp? Is it going to be more like FF XII where you warp archstone to archstone?

this is a sequel (well it's the spiritual successor to demon's souls). IMO demon's souls is the best game to come out this generation and dark souls sounds just as good. we'll see though, if dark souls is a dud there is still cursed crusade and that looks extremely promising.
I had to sign in just to say this. Geohotz was the reason Sony took OtherOS off the ps3. If I remember right he hacked into the system RAM. Within a month Sony released the update to stop him (and others) from getting any farther into the system. Not to mention the fact YellowDog Linux was custom built for ps3 support. The homebrew scene has always been there, but Sony has tried to shut the scene down at every turn.

Okay, first, I thought your post was very well put and I agree to some extent, but I do disagree with your point about installs. I have only ever had an install last more than 10 minutes twice (once because mgs4 installs b4 the game and in between every level and Socom: Con because it was horribly broken at launch). It's not a shortage, this is smart business. Now instead of just making $300 off of a 120gb model, add the buy-back rate. (300 - 200 = 100) Then add the $75 mark up on the newly traded in ps3. They are looking to turn an even bigger profit off of the sheep that are willing to see this as a deal. Does anyone know the price for a used 60gb ps3 after the $200 buy-back deal went into effect? Is it the same as before?

These updates are bullsh*t. PERIOD. Better Facebook integration? Adding trophy levels to friends list bubbles? Taking away Linux? These are good additions?
Sony needs to add gaming related features. Who gives a sh*t if I can look who's commenting on my Facebook pictures? Who says I even have a Facebook page? Back two years ago I would have defended Sony's updates, but now, you Sonyfriends are on your own.
Did anyone else read that SONY IS NOW CHARGING AN ENTITLEMENT FEE FOR SOCOM FTB3? This means if you buy the game used from gamestop, EB, ect you must pay an additional $19.99 to access the online features. So is this going to become a trend? To play the online features in games we must own the title to it? Am I the only one that thinks this is a bad thing?

the MGS4 engine was designed for the ps3. more than likely the same engine will be used and the the ps3 would be the lead console since it's so difficult to develop for

It's just a benchmark... The game itself has a character creator regardless of platform.
