Epic are not developers for a very long time. Fortnite was a unique move cause of BR blowout and that decision made them billions. Now they are focusing on pushing the industry with their EGS and UE5

Thing is, Sony worked closely with Epic during development both for the PS5 and UE5 and investment was made just now, way after he praised it, so this has nothing to do with it.
Imo he just genuinely impressed by it. When you love a game and are impressed, doesnt mean developer or publisher paid you to say that yk.

This is purely Sony's decision in believing that UE5 potentially will bring more than ever developers using it than UE4, Believing that EGS will only keep evolving and potentially become second Steam. Believing that Fortnite will survive a whole generation.
