I have played every single FF game ever made. Besides FFXII and the mmos, all FF games are about as open world as pokemon and mario games. Linear for 30 hours then it opens up into small areas with a bland 2Dimensional overworld. Only in FFXIII were you given a huge open space that actually feels alive unlike the sterile, dead calm lands.
Nothing like FFXV has ever excited in the franchise at this scale
