"1.14 - SONY started the PS1 with this same method.........
Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil: just to name a few. So you SONY only guys can just chill."

mortal kombat - when MK was released, the playstation did not exist. the first MK titles were on the genesis and super nintendo respectively. the ps1 did not receive a version of MK until ultimate MK III came out, well after the release of umk3 on 16 bit consoles.

the club is actually alot better than the demo.

now i understand why publishers are hesitant to release demos. the demo was so blah that i almost didnt buy the club either. good thing i tried it out anyways.

give it a rent. dont judge it by the demo.

how about the fact that no sony game won anything. warhawk, tekken: DR, everyday shooter... they all lost to pac-man: CE. WTF?

this is interesting because the ps3 versions of oblivion have gotten lower scores than the xbox360 versions due to lack of downloadable content. ignoring the fact that the "out of the box" versions were clearly superior. will reviewers go back to alter their scores?

actually, i DO own both versions. with the exception of the excessive bloom in the farmhouse level on xbox360, they both pretty much look the same.

the xbox360 has better bloom effects, but the draw distance on the ps3 is much, much better though. you can see further, but the xbox360 version gets blurry as you look further into the distance.

also, has anyone noticed that the radius of damage from grenades is much larger on the xbox360 version?

i have a 7.1 sound setup in my house. its not as expensive as you think. im sure there are better setups, but mine works fine since my living room isnt that huge.

my reciever was around $600-700 [i think, including speakers and cabling], but if brand names and hdmi passthrough arent as big a concern for you, you can find a 7.1 reciever for under $300.

for example, this one has decent reviews. it retails for $399 normally; take advantage of sales and black friday....

Lisp is proprietary to naughty dog? any other programmers think "WTF!" when they read that?

what was really memorable about halo3's single player?

halo2 had some high points, like the elevator ride while the flood were jumping down at you. or the entrance of the flood period. the tank battles were pretty cool too, but halo3 just didnt have any level that really stood out. the levels that would have been kinda cool just came off like another take on halo2 levels.

i know there is a cost for divx licensing, but i swore xvid was free.

i have to check wikipedia, but i always thought xvid was created by people fed up with divx not being free, so they reverse engineered divx and improved it slightly to make xvid and offer it free. reverse engineering... names reversed... get it?

better yet... how do you know which picture belongs to what? how do we know? it could be a comparison between the PC version and the dreamcast version for all we know. people can swap labels, or do whatever to prove a point.

i have the ps3 version. outside of driving around in the car, the game's zoomed in textures look even better than they appear in these screenshots; thats a fact, and thats all that really matters to me.

i think the appeal of CoD4 is that it finally breaks free of WWII. there arent that many modern FPS games out there, in comparison. out of the few around, very few are stellar. with the exception of rainbow six, none of them are available on the next gen consoles. IW seems to be filling the gap w CoD4.

?

motorstorm has sold well over a million copies. given the low ps3 userbase, thats like a 1 in 5 attach rate. depending on how you look at it, thats better than halo 3's! as of summer, resistance sold over 2 million, thats a 1 in 2.5 attach rate. every other ps3 owner has a copy of resistance.

the layout needs a desparate overhaul, but i still think its better to use than live. live has better content, however navigation is horrid.

finding certain things on live is near imposible. i remember trying to download ghost recon advanced warfighter at one point. at the time i didnt realize that it was abbreviated into G.R.A.W. in the menu. same thing with fight night round 3. the lack of pictures really hurts the live marketplace, jut as the lack of demos for most of the or...

please correct me if im wrong, but by my guesstimation im pretty sure the numbers were around:

12m wii
12m xbox360
6m ps3

attach rates are something like:

7.8 xbox360
5.55 ps3
5.43 wii

overall, none of the consoles are doing poorly. now that the p3 has cut prices to within competitive range of the xbox360, we will see how things play out over the holidays. its way too early to count anyone out.

@armyless:

thats a great idea, but i doubt epic wants their game to been seen running at any varying degrees of polish.

looks like they are using the same art director that designed final fantasy tactics. that alone piques my interest.

you do know that blu-ray supports VC-1 encoding, right? most blu-ray releases except for the first few months have been vc-1 or MP4 avc.

and your statement is slightly colored. MS did want to use HD-i, but the bulk of the industry wanted to go with something standard: java. using hd-i would have resulted in every studio paying to bring in new professionals and being at the mercy of MS for updates, licensing fees, etc... java is a programming standard and is proven to have much...

critics are not immune to criticism themselves.

if you are a critic you should be able to back up your points and overall critique. even at this point, no one feels as though the review has been properly questioned for its validity.

everything should have its checks and balances. if a critic can just randomly assign a numerical score to something without being able to respond or back up his reasons for doing so, scores and reviews would lose their meaning.

i agree. its becoming apparent that all we've been hearing over the months is just excuses
